Welcome and congratulations. How about following the break in period. It wont kill you.

Coating? What coating?

Congrats!!

Don't get any dealer coatings. Search the Detailing forum for "Zaino" - it's the best sealant you'll ever use or need.

Suggestions for new owner - lurk around the forums, read up on a lot of old posts. Use the search feature a lot if you have questions, because most of your questions will have been answered already.

For instance don't ask "what's the best intake / exhaust / turbo kit??". Just search, lurk, learn.

That said, have fun, drive safe, and don't hit 6k rpm's just yet. Follow the break-in procedure which is given in your user manual.

Here's a hint - on dry pavement, press the button below and to the left of the steering column that says VDC or TCS off. It will let you drive a lot more aggressively

Keep VDC / TCS on for any uncertain road conditions like wet pavement.

Another trick - hold down the unlock button on your remote to roll down the windows as you walk up to the car.

The dealer one was expensive so thought I would have detailer put on Permagard. What is timeframe to break in?

Again, I'll highly recommend Zaino. Zaino is not a wax, it is a really amazing sealant. It also layers on top of itself. Any stuff the dealer puts on the car won't last more than 6 months.

I suggest you browse through your manual a bit. Break in is 1200 miles IIRC. Also, don't drive at one constant RPM. Vary your RPMS a lot by downshifting and upshifting.

Manual or Auto?

I used the Ming mirror finish. They burnish (melt) the clear coat down to a smooth glass like finish that requires no waxing, except for the mist and wipe kind if you develop some minor swirl marks from washing. Costs around $200 and was worth it to me until a large lab jumped at car while I was going 30 mph and RUINED my driver sided door!!! He hit it so hard that paint was chipped. Timeline: picked up new Z Friday night (3rd of Feb) dropped it off for the 3 hour treatment Monday Morning. Tuesday morning, dog does more then $1200 worth of damage to my car. Went back to look for the dog but couldn't find the son of a female dog.

I hope I don't get ex-communicated but I finally opted for dealer TOC and Lo-Jack after they gave me a ck for $2400 that I didn't really expect. My trade could have been way less...and they seemed really nice to this hard-bargainer. P.S.: Was pleasantly surprised that my credit union (that I've never used) wrote me out a ck for 40k in about 20minutes ... 'credit cks' must go really fast!

I forgot to thank you for telling me about 'tcs off' and not getting the Touch of Class...both were very good suggestions & I thank you. Normski
