Default Adding Some Horsepower...

I just got a 2004 silver, manual 350z. I am wanting some more HP, but don't have the biggest budget. What are some good modifications for cheap? What will give me the most power for my money? Oh and by the way, I have Vehicle Dynamic Control on my car, but no traction control. The Price brand new for the car was around $36,000. What edition is my Z? Base, enthusiast, performance, etc... Does my z have 287 HP or 300 HP? Thanks!

Did you already buy the car? Without even knowing what trim level it is?

You said a brand new 04? Dealers still have new 04's?!?

Brakes: large gold-colored brakes = Track model
Seats: leather = probably a Touring
Stereo: Bose = Touring

Oh and VDC has Traction Control built-in. That's not available on the Base or Enthusiast so you either have a Track or Touring. But the brakes are the big thing....Brembos = Track model.

No! That was the Brand new price. I got my car for about $27,000. I found out that it is the "Touring edition" from all of your comments. I appreciate it.

So, would one of your first modifications be getting a cold air intake? I see that those aren't too expensive...What would you do if you had about $500 to put into a stock Z?

Default My Z350

I feel lucky, I purchased an 04 350z Performance edition in Oct 05 for 26,500 the car had 500 miles on the clock and was perfect. At this point Ive added a complete APS Single Turbo, APS Dual Exhaust, Y pipes, Down pipes and test pipes. I also went for a Tall Boy Plenum. All work was done by a local APS Dealer. I'm in So FL, no smog testing here, I can run W/O cats. At this point I've put 4 hours into Dyno Tuning using a Mustang 4WD Dyno. I make about 313 at the rear wheels, that's it folks. Don't get me wrong, the car is an animal compared to stock. But that's what 10 grand gets ya today. The Pic's were taken prior to installation of Tall Boy.

Welcome and congratulations. Do you have a owners manual? Very helpful.

TCS is a subsystem of VDC. All Zs that have VDC have TCS.
