Talking NewB

Greetings from Germany. I recently purchased a 2003 Touring, Daytona Blue Z. Despite reading about all the issues that plagued the 03/04 models, I took the plunge and purchased the car. It has 17K miles and I love it.

I am in the Air Force stationed in Germany...been in 24 years and wish I could serve my country for 50 more. The Z loves the autobahn and I have pushed the car to 130 mph without any problems....an Audi A4 tried to keep up.

The only urgent improvement the car needs is a good detailing. The paint is rough to the touch. The Germans aren’t too keen on garages so most cars sit outside exposed to the elements. Our military exchange stores don’t stock too many paint cleaning supplies and whatever they stock is the low end stuff. I am trying to find a good place to detail the car but with my limited German linguistic skills…I am a bit apprehensive.

I read this forum daily. It is a tremendous source for quality information and actually, some posts are quite humorous. I promise not to post any dumb questions without doing some thorough research. To date, I have only seen 3 Zs in the local area. Consequently, my car gets a ton of stares and finger pointing which I find funny, considering I am in the land of BMW, AUDI and MERCEDES….

Thanks.

I am stationed at a small base called Sembach AB. Its about 15 mins from Ramstein AB...which you may have seen on TV. Its where all the OEF/OIF wounded are flown in, then bused over to Landstuhl Medical Center.

24 years may seem long to some, but it just seems like yesterday to me...
