Fishtailed today, Howcome??
I was making a right turn today, I gave the car gas, not alot, I really wasn't trying to get on it, and as I finished the turn, the back of the car swerved in the opposite direction, you know-fishtailed. The guy who inspected it today said it's because of the rear wheel drive and because it was wet. Rained all day long in n.y. today. Any theories on this???

Sorry everyone wants to flame you. I choose to help you out though.
You gotta be really cautious turning corners when it is wet in any rear drive car, not to mention a car with a good amount of torque at low rpm levels like the Z. Basically you experienced physics at work, nothing more. You basically also experienced the principal behind drift racing. Now its a different story when the driving surface is dry. In order for the back end to flip out on you when it is dry, you gotta really have your foot in the pedal. Hope this helps. Be safe
By the way, do you have Manual or Auto.

This is why I changed from my R33 to the 350Z (with VDC)..........
I got sick of holding on with both hands, trying to concentrate so hard so I wouldn't loose it too bad in the wet. Its fun for awhile (had the car 2yrs), but is very dangerous in a high powered car. Especially when there is only limited traction in 1st and 2nd gears
The Z however is a totally different feel in the wet, you can go hard into corners without a worry, because if you go tooo far, the VDC kicks in and sends you around the corner safely. VDC slides are fun
(thats when you spin the back wheels and slide on an angle slightly before the VDC kicks in). I wouldn't, however, recommend turning off the VDC in the wet, as the tail end of the Z is very touchy and will drift for you but gets to a certain point then slips out on you.
My suggestion is, if this is the first time you have felt you car loose traction on you, you should really try some track days/driving events where you can go "all out" in a safe environment and learn the limitations and capabilities of your car.
