Unhappy Got my first ticket today

I've had my Z about 2 months and I've been pretty good about watching my speed. This morning around 6am on my way home from work - I was WEAK!. I was on the ramp from S I15 to S805. It's nothing crazy - just a long sweeping LT turn. So without really noticing it I was up around 100. As I merged onto the 805 I just gave it a little more. I looked down at the speedo and realized i was going about 110. I looked up and started to slow down. Sure enough in the rear view was one of California's finest. He gave me a brake only wrote me for 85. I think I can still go to traffic school for this one. Anybody kn ow how much 20mph over the speed limit will cost in San Diego?:icon16:
Anyway lesson learned.

im pretty sure if its 80+ you arent gonna get traffic school. I'm basing this on the fact that i was going 90+ once and got pulled over, the cop said he would drop it down to 80 so im able to take traffic school. I paid around 150 i think so im guessing your will be around 180

Yeah man, this is the worst place to speed IMO. Once I'm on the freeway, whether it be day or night, I usually allow the initial pack of cars to pass me before I go apesh!t. A good 3 minutes ought to clear out the peeps in back of you and once it's clear in the rearview of suspicious cars, that's when it's safe to proceed in law breaking. Every ticket I've ever got were from speeding entering a freeway. So this is the system I've found to work best. 5+ years without one. You never really know what kind of **** you are merging into, best to play it safe at first.

Davidv, where is that?

Good luck on your ticket, getting pulled over is never very fun. It was a close call for me last night, I took off pretty fast at a light, and a minute later a cop was speeding up to me with his lights on. He shut them off though, and just kinda rode my bumper for a couple minutes before getting off.

HPDE at Summit Point, WV. 05/27/05.

You do not belong in a Drivers Education class with a bunch of pimple-faced Neon drivers. Unfortunately I don't think that the judge will go for HPDE. But maybe he will.

Oh, Rusty it seems you've found out why 350's are called "ticket collectors". At least you didn't loose your licence.

"Ticket Collectors?" I think I have gotten out of a few tickets for driving a nice car rather then my beater Civic. I wont even drive the Civic at night because I am more likely to get pulled over. I drive like an A** sometimes in the Z and have never gotten pulled over. I drive my 3 cylinder Civic like a grandma, (I can say this because one cylinder is absolutely shot) and have gotten pulled over in it 3 times. I goosed it infront of a cop last night, and was just followed by him, in the civic i wouldve gotten pulled over no question.

Thanks Davidv, I want to do more this year with car stuff. I only got to go to HIN in boston this year, and a couple of local shows, and NOPI nationals in New Hampshire. I definitely want more this next year.

I must admit, I've escaped more than my fair share of tickets, but being a girl I smile sweetly and they wave you on. But I get tail gated alot by the boys in blue, especially on the motorway. Most of the guys in our 350 club in NZ have had tickets. One of them is borderline loosing his licence.

just get a lawyer. 20 over will be easily knocked down assuming you have a decent record

Slightly off topic:

If a car sees driving recklessly and a cop finds you later driving legally, can he give you a ticket. It hasn't been done but I just wanted to know.
