New Z owner in Bothell, WA
Hey, just got a Z...its used 2003, but it was used by an old lady...in other words, it was babied. Only thing was that I had to let go of my "first car" 1992 Lexus SC400...which meant a lot to me because I completely rebuilt the engine, redid the suspension and brakes. It was an incredible car, especially with the 4.0 V8. I will definately miss that because it meant to much to me...
Now that that's over...time to move on, right?
I now have a Black Touring, 6MT...bone stock. So I got a lot of work to do...hehehe...but I plan to keep it looking real classy and sport, but with a nice amount of power. Anyone got any suggestions as far as rims go? I'm thinking either Enkei RSV/J10 or Rays G-Games 77SVA10...hopefully in 19s offset...but its hard to find.
Also, for anyone who lives in Washington state...do you know of any good tinting places near here? (I've found a few, but I am not sure as far as quality and customer service goes...)
Thanks!
ps...even though Zs are not uncommon, for some reason, I tend to get about the same amount of looks with it, as I did with my rimmed up lexus...kinda cool cuz the Z is still stock!
will post pics soon!

My live-in gf had a '92 SC 400 and I hesitated on getting the Z because I thought one of us should have something more practical for camping, snow, space, etc. The SC was about the nicest car I ever drove. When she moved out I bought the Z and kept my old Pathfinder. To think that I could have missed the Z experience outshadows the loss of the other 2. You will be happy.
hey, thanks for the welcome. this forum is pretty cool compared to a lot of the other ones out there...
the sc400 was a really nice car. after doing all the work on it, it really began to mean something to me (it was also my late-grandfather's last car)...so it had a lot of sentimental value.
funny story, a few days ago, while i was cleaning one of my drawers, i came across one of the master keys for the car! back when i first got the car, one of the keys actually broke off of the key ring (and i lost it in a parking lot...but luckily someone found it). so i wouldnt lose the key, i put it in one of my drawers...which, over time, accumalated a lot of stuff. anyways, when i traded in my lexus for the Z, i completely forgot about this key. i seriously was tempted to go steal it back! (jk...
)
so far, the Z's treatn me real well...definately getting waaaaay better gas mileage (b/c of the smaller engine + lighter car...in comparison to the lexus at least).
btw, i'm working on the pics...should have them up tonight sometime (camera is kind of ghetto).

hey, well here are some pics...
these are some pics of my 1992 lexus right before i actually fixed it. when i got it (my parents gave it to me when i graduated high school), it wasnt even running at all. the engine ended up needing a complete overhaul...

here is my lexus after i finished working on it...
i kept the engine completely stock, rebuilding it with new or remanufactured oem parts...it ended up needing so much work (new gaskets, headers, injectors, sparkplugs, battery, fuel lines, seals, and a bunch of other stuff...been a while, cant really remember). it took about a month to complete the engine/tranny and after that, about two more months to completely fix some of the other minor problems.
after i got it running, i added some rims (20" ADR Type 72? or something like that, not sure exact ones...). put some adjustable KYB shocks, powerslot rotors, steel braided brake lines, remanufactured calipers, compustar security system, and a few minor mods...but kept the engine mostly stock b/c i was saving up for some performance parts.

after all that... a few months later (during the winter...) i ended up noticing a major problem with the heating system and the seals in the car. although the car was running really well, the car kept accumalating a lot of moisture. actually, one day before school, the outside and inside of the windows were completely frosted over. the car actually had icicles hanging from the sunroof! (no joke...but since i was in a rush for school, i didnt get a chance to take a picture before they melted).
anyways, i went to the dealership and a few salvage yards to get some parts and found that the total for all the parts i needed were going to cost me a minimum of about $5g...after seeing the price, i decided to sell my car.
my friend, who works at the lexus dealer had a 350z traded in one day and called my the second he got it (he actually called me before the people trading it in even completed the deal...).
so i was the first to get my hands on it and test drive it and love it!
so here are pics of my new used z...(sorry its a little dirty, i washed it the day before, but b/c its spring, there is a lot of pollen and stuff...black is also really hard to keep clean)...
