Default My first Z Base 2007 Orange

What's up! This is technically my first car. Straight out of college into a Z. It's pretty damn fast, I can beat my friends STI. Is that normal for a Z or am I getting lucky or is it the 2007's added hp? I always thought an STI could beat a Z. Also I was wondering if someone could give me tips on how to get a good start. THANKS !

I just got my '07 out of college also. So far an exhaust is your best bet - the previous years exhaust fit the '07. An intake is also a good idea, but I'd wait for a few more to be released because Stillen's is the only one out so far and it's probably not the best bang for your buck. Good luck!

BTW, did you buy it at Pinnacle Nissan? I remember seeing an orange base Z there when I bought mine.

futureZowner:
my race against my friends sti was just drag. He gets my *** at the start but i catch up pretty quick.

Skorch:
Hell ya I bought my nissan at Pinnacle. Nice to meet another guy in my situation, same city. Sorry I wasn't very clear, I meant how do you get a good launch? i'm terrible at starting in first gear. I either peel or just start so damn slow. I think I'm gonna get wheels first just because I want to make sure to keep my warranty for a while longer. I don't want them trying to blame a factory defect on an exhaust or something.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad other 350z drivers tend to be hella cool and nice guys. Ya I got a job as an actuary with a math degree. Pays pretty damn good.

So cmon, any tips on how to get a good launch?

im not a pro at the launch but the key is to be able to control the clutch right at the point where the gas and clutch meet. and then feather it/controlled mash on the throttle that prevents tire spin. the first time i raced a 5.0 mustang i didnt even spin the tires. the second time i raced my friends ss camaro and i spun the tires for about a second and a half so it can be tricky. good luck, nice car, and welcome to the community.

Welcome and congrats

make sure you break it in right so it'll last.

be careful these cars have power, especially since you don't have LSD or traction control.
