Default New Owner...but never driven one

Hey all, I just bought an '07 350Z today and maybe Im a bit crazy but Ive actually never driven a 350Z. In fact, I still haven't, they are having to ship my car here so I have a loaner maxima until tomorrow morning. Craziness. Anyway a little background is that my family has always loved Zs, and I still own a 280ZX that I like to occaisonally drive around. My dad has a 300ZX and my younger brother has a 300ZX TT. In any case how it came about that I bought it was I was considering selling my SRT-4 because I needed something a little more professional being that Im a consultant and a neon with a wing just wasnt cutting it anymore (but man was it fast). I was looking at S4s and I happened across a Nissan dealership online and noticed some 350s in stock. There was one in particular that was San Marino blue with the exact options I would want and I called a dealership closer to me and told them if they could dealertrade I was interested. It turned out they needed two other cars from the dealership that had the Z I wanted. I went down and completely lowballed them (offered 26500, MSRP 30,000) and they took it, out the door, but not before 6 hours of haggling at the dealership. Anyway they didnt have any Zs there for me to test drive, and since they were waiting on delivery, I dont actually get my car till tomorrow. So that is how I bought a Z without ever driving one. Im not worried about it at all though....Ive loved every Z we've had so cant figure why I wouldnt love the 350 as well

Thanks guys! Ill definitely post up pics tomorrow after I get the car in. Actually Ill take pictures of both my cars and put them up. The only thing Im slightly nervous about is that I was so used to the ridiculous amount of midrange torque on the SRT that I am a bit afraid of feeling let down not getting that kick...though apparently the 0-60s are supposed to be about the same.

Wow, I personally couldn't buy a car without driving one at least to test drive. But sounds like things were against that happening. So you'll be able to give us your fresh impressions of your new Z. You've come from a Z family so you know you'll enjoy it!!!

Congratulations.

I also bought a 350Z without ever having driven one. I was not disappointed when I first turned the ignition key.

Another beaming happy Z owner. Out of curiousity, are either of the 300's your family own the dark blue?? Just wondering, as the 300 dark blue is not that common. Kind of cool Nissan choose to revert back to the old colour for the 07.

I actually was looking for an enthusiast model, but all I could find with what I wanted was a base. In any case, I dont usually go to the track so the LSD isnt a huge deal and I can live without cruise control. I do wish I had the nav but other than that Im 100% happy. One thing I cant live without is a good sound system but Im sure I wouldnt have even been happy with the bose even if I did get it....but Im not expecting to be able to fit my 2 12s in

SMB is my fav color as well, I made them ship the SMB one up from a different dealership heh heh.

congrats and welcome

glad you finally left the darkness (SRT-4).

enjoy your car, i;m sure you will.
Bose system is pointless, because you'll probably wanna upgrade anyway, also when you do you can just get navi in your head unit. The down side of having a base are no LSD and no traction control, but if your careful it won't matter. I've heard that the torque is very linear on the 07s so the speed can be deceiving, but i'm sure your new Z is MUCH faster than your SRT-4.

No, unfortunately none of them are. There is currently the red 300ZX, my white 280ZX, and now my blue 350Z. There was also the silver/grey 300 that got smashed...too bad too, beautiful car.

You are definitely right about the torque being linear, its very very deceptive. I got up to about 110 on the highway when I was driving home from Denver the other night and I didnt even realize how fast I was going....it just sort of snuck up that far very quickly
