Default Another New Z Owner

I've had my Z for a few weeks now but just found these forums a few days before leaving on vacation. Got back this week and thought I'd post a pic. 2005 GTR with 12k miles. I *think* it has every option available but I still have lots to learn about this car.

It's all stock with the exception of the exhaust tips which I don't like at all. ("Coffee-can" things that are ugly.) So I'm going to replace the exhaust with a Cat-back of some sort. Haven't made up my mind on which one yet but would welcome suggestions. So far I'm loving the car!

Congrats on the new yellow, and welcome!

If you search, you can find tons of exhaust sound clips to help you make your decision.

Nice Pic! If I'm not mistaken you must have the only Gran Touring made in 2005. I don't think the model came out until '06 as a morph from the 35th anniversay edition.

Beautiful car. Check the regional Northwest sub forum as it is pretty active.
Welcome!!!!

Nice pic and great roadster! Yellow would have been my second choice if I couldn't get the redline. :-)

I'm pretty sure I have a 2005 Grand Touring too, since it came with the Brembo's and the VDC. I think that is what makes it a GT instead of just a T -- at least that's what I was able to find on the Nissan web site. But I'm still trying to confirm it for myself.

OP: Does your 2005 have Brembo's & VDC?

Yes mine has Brembo's and VDC and from everything else I can tell it is a GT but if not, then how do I find out exactly what it is? Here's the features it has...

6 speed MT
Power and heated Leather seats
Navigation system
BOSE 6cd changer stereo system
VDC
Brembo brakes
18" wheels/tires
Cruise control
A/C

I think that is all it has. If it's not a GT what would it be?

Thanks!

Ohh. so they didn't do the 18/rear 19/front wheels on the GT's in 05? They have those(18f/19r) on the 07/08 GTs.

I went a did a little searching and found this:

"New for 2005 is a 350Z Roadster Grand Touring Edition with 6-speed manual, which is scheduled to be available in late 2004. It comes equipped with Brembo® brakes, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and 18-inch aluminum–alloy wheels."

I knew the roadster models have always had some differences from the coupe, but this must have been the answer to the coupe's 35th anniversary model. This means the first "Gran Touring" models were all roadsters. I guess you could say the 35th anniversary model was a Gran Touring, but it wasn't called that.

In yellow, that is a pretty uncommon car you have.

Uncommon or rare is definitely a good thing if you're thinking of selling down the track. For instance with the 300zx there are still some models that are highly sort after.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Does anyone know where a person can go to find out how many of a certain car/configuration/color were built? Would be fun to find out just how uncommon my car is or isn't. I bought it because I wanted a loaded yellow roadster and this one seemed to fit perfect in every way.

Not sure about the exact production numbers, but I would guess for that year that yellow is the most uncommon, probably followed by the redline & blue.

I have seen a few (like 2) 05 yellow roadsters (not sure if they were GT or not) and only five 05 redline roadsters (2 GT's) for sale in the Phoenix area this year. I think the most common colors in '05 for the roadster were black/white/silver -- lots of those around.

There are a ton of redline roadster 04's though... Not sure if I've ever seen a yellow 04 (coupe or roadster)!

Also, I think the 05' GT's have 18" wheels all around. From the factory, they are 235/45/18 front and 245/45/18 rear, with a (factory) chrome option. Your NAV system would have been an option (for any trim level).
