Default Noob to the forum more then likely making the jump

Not quite sure if it's the standard around here, but I thought I'd just do a quick intro thread. I'm considering making the switch to an 350Z from my 05 Neon SRT-4. While the Z is not quite as quick in the straight line as the SRT was, I'm highly considering making the jump. I've always had a soft spot for the Z and I'm thinking now's the time to go for it. I'm looking at getting into a different project and basically starting over. You'll learn that suspension is my biggest key factor with any car. I currently auto-x my SRT4 in SM with the Philly and Susquehanna Region SCCA's. I've also ran a few events with Central PA and the DC Area Regions. So with that said suspension will be the first thing addressed and then power will follow after a bit.

As of right now I'm looking at an 03 Touring, and so far have fallen in love with the car. I'll know within the next week if I'm making the plunge or not. Anyways heres a pic of my SRT back in it's glory days. It's now back to 100% stock and has lost it's appeal to me.

If I make the jump you'll be seeing an updated picture pretty quickly

The Z is just as quick in the straight line if not quicker.

Welcome to the site. There is a plethora of information here. You will not regret the decision to switch.

not the 03 (which is what I will end up in) when you run a 13.9 on stock tires and 13.3. on slicks I know they are pretty damn close though w/ the 07's being quicker

thanks for the welcome

When I first got my first Z, it was an 03 Touring Auto. My friend had an 05 SRT4, with a couple little mods done to the engine (don't remember exactly what now), we went out to his family's property and did a couple runs. We each won once. The first time when I won he said he missed a shift, but I didn't see it. I think he was just embarassed haha.

Either way, doesn't matter, both are fast and you will definitely enjoy the Z. Good luck finding one!

point being??? If you think that's the first time I've heard that your in for a trip. I knew it was a Neon when I bought it. I purchased the Neon SRT-4 for it's performance. Nothing could beat it in it's price range at the time and is still one of the top performing FWD vehicle on the market 3 years arfter production stoped. With that being said I've had enough with FWD and am looking for a good base platform to begin building on, which is where the Z comes into play.

Welcome! Sounds like you have, and have had, your head on straight. You will enjoy the Z, if and when you get one. The twisty driving is the best.

well just got set back a little, the Z I was looking into just sold on Friday. I can get my friend's father to get me one at the Manheim auto auction, but I would need ot sell my SRT-4 first which I am really trying to avoid that headache.

I agree that the srt-4 is actually fast right out the box and i'm kinda jealous of that but the neon itself doesn't really attract me lol. I only know the car as a little family car really, but no disrespect man. I think you will love a Z if you do get one. It handles pretty good even when stock. Anyways good luck on the desicion
