I think YMMV....it's always hard to predict insurance, reliability, and maintenance factors. I am fortunate to be married to a woman who wants me to buy a sportscar, which is great.

But, since I always pay cash for my vehicles I just decided I didn't want to save the amount I'd need for a C6 convertible (about 40,000 including tax and license).

So, I figured, why not just pay cash for the Z and laugh all the way to the bank...vehicle paid for, no financing, interest etc. Done, done and DONE!

The other factor is that I am a fan of late model BMW motorcycles...unfortunately they are pricy to buy and pricy to maintain...duh, it's BMW... Jennifer and I love to ride so selling the moto to buy a Vette is not an option. So, we are opting for the less expensive Z and keeping the bike!

Good luck on your purchase!

I was looking at both when I bought my Z. I opted for the Z for two reasons. One being the difference in price (I will not buy used). The second reason is because I know a lot more people with Vettes than I do with Z's in R/L and I've always had to be different.

The Corvette is $46,000 plus. You can get a 350Z for $29,000. Its an apple and orange comparison.

15K isn't so bad. I could do the same, but something about financing sticks in my throat...I've gotten used to paying cash for cars. There is something compelling about paying cash for a 07 Z, or financing an 05-06 'Vette and having to give the bank my money...still when I see a C6 go by, I know exactly where you are coming from....
