Default Question for new owners re: front plate

For those of you who have picked up your 350Z and those who have examined it closely, I would again pose these questions to help future owners decide on whether or not to have the front licesnse plate bracket mounted:

1. How does the front plate look to you mounted the way Nissan designates?

2. Is there enough room to mount the front plate in the inner grill area?

3. Is there anything behind the center of the grill besides the radiator?

4. Any possibility of mounting it on the lower lip of the grill instead of the upper lip?

i've been thinking of a way to mount the plate without drilling holes. The best idea i can up with so far is this:

Take a piece of AU piping and thread one end the same size as the "tow loop hook". The pipe should be long enough so it potrudes about 1-2 inches from the radiator. With the other end of the pipe weld on a brackect so the plate can sit nicely on it.

If this makes any sense good. I'll try to draw a crude picture tonight when i get to my other computer.

Any ideas?

I must be dense because I don't catch the meaning. Do you mean you'd go commando if they install it against your wishes?

I like the lower lip installation but I'm not sure I'd like it to fold down at speed. I think that could still result in a violation.

Careful with this idea. It could transfer energy from a front impact directly to the tow hook support, which I imagine is attached to the frame.
