New Z owner starting tomorrow
Hello all,
I'm buying a red 06 350z Grand Touring tomorrow. It has 20k on the clock, 6 speed and all options but nav. Getting it for 19k which I'm told is a steal. Trading in my 08 Altima 2.5SL to get it.
Also, Im living in Chattanooga, TN as of now but will be moving out to San Diego in August. Id definitely be interested in meeting up with some Z drivers out there.
What do I need to look out for with this car? Recco'd oil type and change intervals? I searched but there are so many hits from forever ago, I'm hoping someone might chime in with a more current response.
I load pics when I get the keys

trading 08 altima and it's 19k? That's good @_@? You are with me with the 06 z, we will need to check up on an oil consumption problem, it is in some 06 z's. Not sure if mine has one yet, as it is barely 2 days old

To clarify, the z is gonna run 19.4k out the door. Getting 15300 for my altima (with 26k on it), which I owe nothing on, so I'm gonna finance a laughable $4100. I'm totally stoked. Almost pulled the trigger on a blue 05 base model for 15,900 last week. I'm so glad I passed, even though I much prefer the color. Ideally I'd be buying an 07 silver, but I cant find anything close to this price with these options and in MINT condition like this red one is. There's not one rock chip, scratch, nothing. The guy had every service performed at the dealer where I'm buying it (Dobbs Nissan in Memphis) and has run nitrogen in the tires since new. The tires probably have another quality 10k on them.
oh and im 29, not 19.
skystylez, what part of Cali are you from?

ah great. I am up in the bay area, norcal. If you want to come up here I have no problem, i am not too fond of long road trips, especially in a 2 seater . And i never said you were 19, or was that a subtle insult?

haha i only mentioned the 19 thing since everyone seems to be on a tirade over teens driving Zs around here. IMO age doesn't prevent stupidity. Danica Patrick was turning 200mph in traffic @ age 17. I'm not askin for her keys... just her number.

Congratulations! Don't worry about the dreaded oil consumption issue, very few Zs actually had it. I have an 06 as well and it doesn't lose an ounce of oil.
The 2006 with the rev-up motor is, in my opinion, the best Z. Of course,, as with all opinions, there are always more than one! : ) I know the HR motor in 07 and later is more refined, but it did not improve acceleration and I like the brawnier feel of the rev-up better.
Plus, the bulging hood in newer Zs is not as clean looking.
Good choice and congrats again!
