Default 05 Zr Touring, 58k miles

And lo, I have taken the plunge.

I've purchased a nicely-preserved 2005 350z Roadster (Touring?) with 58K miles at a reasonable price of $14.2K. Only problem I or my mech can find is a dead right rear tire pressure sensor, where the previous owner screwed it and his new Falken tire up with Fix-A-Flat (!) because he thought he might have a leak (I'll be looking for a replacement sensor, if anyone has a line on one not at a dealer).

It also has some goofy after-market tails (But he's getting me the stocks), can't find the decorative valve cover, and the center console cupholder insert is missing; really minor things, so all told in petty good shape.

Pretty excited, though, and I've had a blast driving it and learning the idiosyncrasies of a "new" car.... I'm sure I'll be inundating y'all with questions soon enough as I turn it from a Zr to a "Z-Wing". I've already been asked to display it at the LA County Fair if it's ready in time for Labor Day.

If you're looking for new, you're looking for part 40700-CD001.

Oh yeah, Welcome.

Welcome to the forum. Good to hear you're out there having fun in the Z. The Honda looks an interesting project.

Thanks for the sensor leads- I've yet to figure out the optimum search protocol on this forum- mostly it returns a heap o' fail.

The Honda Del Sol is a really awesome project... Called the H-Wing, I've had it for 10 years, and been all over TV, news, magazines, net, movies and more with it. Mostly I take it to charity, community and kids events in SoCal, from hospitals to NASCAR and Monster Jam pit shows and parade laps, up to 160 a year; I never charge for appearances preferring instead that the money go to charity,, and we've helped raise millions. But at 224K miles and 14 years old, the H-Wing is about toast.

The Z is its replacement. Back in September Nissan had agreed to sponsor me with a new 370ZR when they became available this summer, but sadly bailed out as the economy worsened. To keep my charity work going without interuption, my wife and I scraped enough money together to buy this 350ZR. A crew is already documenting the build for Learning/Discovery or some channel, and I hope to have it mostly done by September. Same deal- R2-D2, Lasers, etc. Lots of FX and lighting, while avoiding the "rice" look.

I'm glad to see that this forum is as welcoming as Team Sol's. I know my project won't meet with everyone's approval (I got hate mail from the Del Sol guys until I won them over) but I hope you guys at least find the process interesting. Whether you like or loathe it, it's an art project, and designed to make you think.

I have a long history with Datsun/Nissan cars, and we always had a Z in the family; My grandfather was a service manager for Datsun, and my grandma drove a 280Z forever. Zs have been suggested to me as an art car base for years, and I'm pleased to finally get a chance to mod one out. If my past with the Honda is any indication, I'm certain that it will become one of the more well-know ZRs around.

Now that I'm finally getting back to my project car as my New Year's resolution (Honda del Sol "H-Wing" is giving up after 240K), do we have an official showoff thread? Or should I just keep throwing pics and mods up here?

Welcome. I bought a Del sol new in 95 and wish I could have kept it, that car was cool and handled great with just tires added.
