Default Finally Getting into the Z Game - Nashville, TN

Hey guys,

I've owned my Z for just over a year now. Managed to pick up an '03 Touring last spring for a decent price. Autotragic unfortunately, but for the price, I couldn't complain. Over the last year, I've been debating with myself as to whether or not to start modding, and I've decided it's time to own up and blow some money on her.

I've been in the Maxima scene over at Maxima.org for about a year and half, for anyone that's familiar. So I know a bit about our VQ. I've got the Max modded a little, but I've decided it's time to stop pouring money into the FWD car and pursue RWD. FWD is wearing me out, and there's only so much you can do with it. Plus, at 171k, I don't think the Maxima needs to be seeing much abuse. Too worried I'll blow something up, so it's returning to strictly DD duty.

Just thought I'd post up and say hi. There are a few questions that I'd like to ask, but I'm going to do a bit of reading and researching before I do. I'll keep this thread updated if I find any questions I have that haven't been answered, or that were answered ages ago, and the thread has since fallen out of date.

Thanks for looking, guys.

-Brett

You're right, I know. I kind of countered myself on that one. I'll admit it.

I was talking more along the lines of I'll search around before I do the typical newbie thing and post up various threads that have been beaten over and over again, such as threads on intakes, etc.

That was just foremost on my mind because I'd rather not be cruising down the highway and have the wheel seize up at 70 MPH. It's something I'd like to get corrected ASAP for my own safety. And for the safety of others around me.

You guys don't want another "I wrecked my Z, because..." thread already, do you?

Edit: Found out it's the inner tie rod. Something that needs to be fixed as soon as I can get the part (obviously). Unfortunately, it seems nowhere around here carries it. So I guess it's off to the stealership for me.

Welcome and Gl with her, could be mult things causing the wobble but bad bearing is definately a possibility. How many miles does she have ?

Thanks.

I found out the wobble was a bad inner tie rod. The stealership wanted $80 for just the driver's side, so I'm going with a set of Megans instead. Might as well knock both sides out at the same time for a few bucks more.

She's at just over 125k. No plans here to make a race car out of her. Just looking at a few basic bolt-ons, tune and maybe some minor cosmetic mods. I'm thinking I might make a few passes at the Goodlettsville strip with her just to see how things go. Not in stock form, of course.

Pics just to make a note of where I'm starting from, so that when I look back in a year or two, I can see what I had to work with. (Actually, these were originally for the guys on Maxima.org who wanted to see the Max and the Z together. )

Excuse the grainy, sandy quality. That's what happens when your good camera explodes and you're forced to erm..."borrow" your dad's.

Rims because dude that we got it from decided 3000GT rims were more suitable to the car than the stockers. They just weren't working for me, so I grabbed these from Discount Tire for the time being. Besides looking tucked and needing spacers badly, I don't think they look too terrible.

More pics pending my dad allowing me to have the camera back for a little while.
