Default Is this 350Z worth the asking price?

Hi, I came across this forum when I was researching for my first 350Z. I always wanted one of these when it first launch back in 2002. I was in the market for a new car, so I automatically lean toward purchasing a 350Z. I found this 2006 350Z Enthusiast model for $15,588 at the local Toyota dealership. It has 40k on it with an automatic transmission. Looking to see if this is a good deal or not. Any inputs will be helpful. Thanks.

Seems fair. I would offer 14k and see where they go from there. Make sure you are not settling though (automatic transmission) and make sure it's an actual enthusiast.

I thought that Nissan didn't make base trim automatics. So it is at least an enthusiast.

Take it for a drive, get it checked out, etc. If you like it, make an offer. Or just save up a bit more and get a 07-08 Z with an HR engine.

I usually go by KBB/NADA, and make my offer based on that and overall condition of the car.

Seems to be aight, for sure get it checked out..... Are you locked in on auto?? 6 speed manual sho is fun!!! and...........

+1 on HR engine.....I eyeballed the 03s when the Z came out, but I didnt make near enough to afford them.... And thank GOD I researched when I got back in the market for a car, if I would have gotten non HR when HR was available and found out later I would have pooped the bed...... Not down playin the original 350s, but HR is ****.

Thanks for all the great inputs guys. I commute in the Bay Area, so I think it is best that I drive an automatic. It is a nightmare sometime dealing with these traffics. My personal record was stuck in traffic for 2 hours driving to work which was suppose to be a 30 miles commute. All these constant gas and brake will make you want to punch someone in the face. (FYI, I have no road rage).
I guess I can go back and see if I can get a better price for the car. I’ll let you guys know if I get it or not. Hopefully, I can be a legit 350Z member like the rest of you.

Decide if this is the model -color for you. If yes visit the seller and make your best offer.

To be completely honest, I would look around a little bit. The only way I would say jump on that is if that is the perfect color, tranny, package, mileage that were looking for. If you are not sure, you should look at lemonfree.com and refine the search to exactly what you are looking for. You would be surprised what you could find if you expand the search to 500 miles. That way your perfect car is just a small drive away. Happy hunting, best of luck.

Oh and there is nothing better than a virgin, untracked Z!

I went back to the dealership, but they didn't want to budge on the price. He went on some ******** like someone is willing to finance it if I don't want it. I told him that I can pay cash for it, but he said his manager won't lower a cent on it. But it is alright, I'll shop around for another one. There are some better deals I seen around the Internet, but will need to go out of town to check it out. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for everyone's opinion.

Oh btw, there were a tennis ball size swirl mark on the driver's door. Looked like a bad wax job. It was very noticeable, especially in the sun. Also, the tires on the front don't have much tread left. Brought that up when I was trying to negotiate a better price, but the salesman brushed it off saying it is minor stuff.
