Default Just got a Z

Hello, I had a quick question about my new 350.

I just bought this car a couple days ago, and the tire pressure warning light is on. I checked the pressure in all four tires and they were all around 32-35. My question is, why is the light still on? On the car computer, it says the F tires are 33/33 and the R tires are --/--. My guess is that the sensor for the back tires is out.

Also, my check service soon light came on today, I went to autozone to pull the code and recieved a p0455 which is EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large).

What I did to fix it, was tighten the gas cap and I erased the code. The MIL light has yet to come back on since, so I'm hoping it was just that.

But yea, I am new to this forum. I use to be on a Honda Prelude forum (my last car) and have been looking for a good 350z forum.

The -- means it isn't picking up a signal. It could be that your sensors just need to be reset. It is more likely that the sensors are no longer there or broken.

You can always try to reset them and see if they find them. I used this procedure with success - https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...ring-tpms.html

Could I just take it to the dealer to have them reset it? Shouldn't it only be like 20 bucks?

Welcome. Set tire pressure to 35 PSI COLD. COLD is in the morning BEFORE you have driven the car.

The TPMS sending units are in the wheels. They may be missing or broken. Or Nissan may have to program TPMS to read the sending units.

The gas cap is finicky. 3 clicks is about right.

check to see if your back wheels even have the sensor in them...you can check for the signature stem which looks like this:

confirm that first...

some new owner questions:
On the dte, what distance do you guys usually choose to fill her up?
Do you guys drive with vdc on or off? Im driving with mine off for now. (unless its raining/snowing)
What RPM is you guy's shift light set to?

So the mil light came back on. I'm at Nissan getting the tpm checked out. Yes they are there, hopefully they just need to be reset. He wanted to charge mr 95 bucks to see why the light was on. I was like nah I can just get the code for free at autozone and he said he will check the light and not charge me the fee. So we will see what happens.

EDIT:
He told me the tpm's were dead and needed to be replaced...and i told him I couldn't do it today. So as I'm driving home, the tpms are working again. No flashing PSI light, all 4 tires are reading an measure. And as for the light, he checked it anyways, even though I told him not to because I didnt want to pay the 95 dollar fee. And he said it was the gas cap. So I guess I didn't tighten it tight enough last time, so 3+ clicks it is from now on.
Oh and the best part is, he didn't charge me anything! Not even the standard 20 dollars for resetting the tpms! Pretty good dealership I would say.

leave the sensors out and replace them when you get new tires, they have no purpose besides telling you the tire pressure without using a pressure gauge. I left mine out because They're annoying when installing them.
