Buying a 350z soon hopefully
Hey everyone.
I am currently in the market for a 350z.
I was reading some posts about the bad things about each year.
I have a 2005 35th anniversary manual 350z I am looking at.
Just wondering if you guys can tell me some first hand information about these cars. I am particularly interested in things that tend to go wrong with them.
" -2003-2005 suffer from shitty window motors that leave streaks up and down your window, and damage tint like a snail walking up and down the window.
-2003-2006 transmissions are crap, unless they've been replaced to the revised 009 version transmission. The syncros often go bad resulting in a nasty grind when shifting. It's replaced under powertrain warranty free though if you're in the 5yr/60k range still."
This is some info I found here. Are these the only problems that occur with the car model I am looking at? How often do these problems occur?
Hopefully the 350z I am looking at has had the parts replaced (It has log books so it will be the first thing I check). Actually brings me to another question... how much... assuming the parts haven't been replaced and break on me would I be looking at paying to get it fixed/replaced with the revised transmission?
Thanks for your input in advance everyone.

What makes it expensive to keep running? I currently own a TT supra and am looking for a new project basically, something newer and more sleek would be the perfect word. My white supra is sexy however lacks the "sleekness" of a newer car. Perhaps its just because it isn't black . Regardless its time to move on from it.
Eventually (few years down the track) I will be TTing the 350z; assuming i get one that is, however will firstly be doing BPU to it along with suspension and brakes etc...If it needs it which from the last few weeks reading and talking it doesn't reallyyyyy seem like it needs much in those departments.
They've always been my favorite car since I first saw them in 2002, I just love how they look and the feel after driving one for the first time a few months ago was incredible! I wish the roadster looked less girly though; well that's how it seems to look to me.
Needless to say I am still looking at a roadster as well just for the fact I live in sunny Australia and when frequenting the coast wouldn't mind a sunny drive with the roof down every now and then. However, I am not sure I would be keen on throwing heaps of power at a roadster if only for the safety side of things and the ridgeness'' of the chassis.
Perhaps someone can point me to someone who has taken a done up roadster 350z. I would love to know how they handled on a track in comparison to the hardtop. Maybe there is a thread around I have skipped in my general search.
As you can probably tell I am doing a fair bit of research as I intend to do things right the first time round with hopefully a track model as my base ideally 2007+ however I do like the 35th anniversary model if only to say it is a 35th anniversary model when telling people about the car . The higher RPM line on the later models is definitely appealing! I am not sold on the extra money for a few extra hp and a bit more torque considering my plans of tting... All things to think about I guess, as well as a Z4 may be on the list or perhaps that RSX you recommended. Lots to think about

I think the update started in 04.5 , cause my 05 does not have this problem, only my 03 had it.

Welcome to the forum Kangaroo. I wouldn't be too concerned about throwing extra power at a Vert. There's some on here and one in the UK running some fairly serious power.

Q: How reliable is the Aps TT kit? Are the engines compromised or are they strong enough to handle the extra power on stock internals?
Reason I ask is because from looks nothing is changed internally when adding a turbo or supercharger to the 350z. I am under the impression that newer engines are somewhat weaker due to the use of so much aluminum and weaker materials and are more prone to breaking than the older heavier engines.
Does anyone have any information on this? It's tonight's research for me
cheers
