Default Soon to be new owner but not sure if it's the right car for me...

Hey everyone ! so like the title says, i'll hopefully be buying my 350z tomorrow but i've kind of got last minute cold feet...

I also was interest in a e46 bmw m3 and I don't know anymore...

The 350z got a lost of plus such as: less expensive, maintenance and repair cost are a bit lower, more reliable, less mileage (the m3 that I had spotted was cheaper than most but had twice the mileage of the 350z I spotted), etc...

But I don't know...I mean i've heard such good things about the m3 that I don't know anymore...Many people told me that the 350z is slow. The one that I plan to buy got quite a few mods and supposedly makes 350 hp so I guess that it should be fast enough for me. Plus, i'm only 22 and many people tells me that i'm too young to be buying a classy/traditional car like a bmw and that the sporty 350z suits me better...

On the downsides, I heard that the interior is really cheap/ugly and that's kind of a big turn-off for me...

What do you guys think ? I currently own a 1986 rx-7, so the 2 seats, the impracticality or the maintenance required from the 350z aren't really problems for me...

the only other thing (beside the interior) that makes me doubt is the whole driving experience...I mean everyone that I talk to tells me that driving an m3 is like better than an orgasm (lol) so I really dunno...

sorry ! for the long post and I hope that you guys can help me make the right choice and convince me that the 350z is the right car for me cause that's all I need to get me out of my doubt aha ! thanks a lot

In the 6 years I've owned my Z, I've had zero mechanical problems. I did a decent job maintaining it, and the only problem was a broken cup holder which is 30 bucks to replace. I did replace the radiator, but only cause I hit a 2x4 on the freeway.

On the other hand, my friend has an 05 530i sitting outside my house which he's had for 3 years. Halo's don't work, airbag light is on, seatbelt light stays on, check engine light is on for lean fuel mixture. It cost my friend $160 just for the dealership to check the code, no repair. Right when you stick the key in the damn car beeps forever to tell you everything that's wrong with it, I feel like just taking the damn key back out and walking inside lol.

high mileage BMW's are a money pit. enjoy the 350 and upgrade down the road if you feel the need to, but you won't.

Sorry wrong forum. This is where new 350Z owners post photos of their car. And we say “Congratulations!”

Doubtful your z makes 350 hp. Ive had my fair share of bs with the 2 zeds that i have owned so beware of stuff going wrong as well. I personally would go with the cheaper of the two with less miles and if possible a factory warranty as well. And remember the more stuff and and gadgets a car has the more **** breaks. As far as z being slow, im sure it can pretty well keep up with the high milage m ur looking at, after all magazine racing shows the m to be less than half a second faster in the 1/4 mile.

As for r350's comment it seems as tho the srt4 guys have moved up to the z. Maybe it would be wise to go with the "classy" m.

yes, you are.
I love M3s but I'd be afraid of repair costs.
The z will be good to you if you treat it right

You can't compare the two cars. They are totally different. The z may not be as fast but its not a dog either. I drive luxury cars but I don't miss them when I am in my z. The z is a fun car to drive. My wife loves it as well.

You made the right choice. It's a slow car, but definitely reliable. Plus, for your age, you don't need to go fast

the z is a great car without a doubt reliable, cheap, and still a head turner, while the e46 m3 is a classic.... Its a hard choice to make but i think you will be plenty happy with what the z has to offer

Seldom am I 100 percent sure about anything. A new vehicle is a major purchase. Anxiety is understandable. You are going from a Mazda with about 160 horsepower to a 350Z with 287 horsepower. You will like the difference.

e46 M3 or 350z is definitely a tough choice. You'll be glad that you bought the Z since it has less miles and is really a great car if you take care of it.

As others have said, the M3&Z are two very different cars.Among the many cars I've
owned,an M3 is on the list.As with most German cars,repairs/parts are through the roof.
A Z (I've had my 03 TOURING SINCE NEW)is trouble free give standard maintenance.
The M3 is fun, great exhaust note.If you want to mess around with you car,do mods, have fun,the M3 is not the car.Its pretty much done when you buy it.Also,if you have any thype of ego/"see my car",the M3 has no "WOW" factor.Only people that know what it is(fender vents)will really care.On the other hand, the Z will always turn heads.
The Z has a fantastic design...from all angles.
And...ask a lady which car she prefers.
No contest!
