"New" 2005 Redline Z roadster
Hello,
My name is Jason, and I live in Minnesota. Back in 2003 I was hot for the 350z and had one all picked out (had the pre-order brochures from the local dealer and was set to buy) but my now ex-wife decided to pull the plug on that plan.
Ended up with a 2004 WRX instead. Got a divorce, and like any mid 20's male with disposable income, I modded the living **** out of it. To the point that it was a chore to drive.
As part of my Z/Fairlady fetish, I picked up a 1969 Datsun Fairlady roadster to restore. It's still a pile of parts in my garage, and at this point in life, I'd rather just sell it as is...so I guess if anyone is interested in some Fairlady history, I have one in pieces and the frame has been modified to accept an SR20det+transmission.
Now in my 30's, I decided to sell off the WRX to someone with time to fiddle and fix modded car problems and get the car I originally wanted. My fiance said "didn't you always want a Z?" and the search was on.
We picked up a 2005 roadster with 65k miles on it over the weekend. And it is everything I had hoped it would be.
I plan to keep it pretty much stock. After building my Subaru to hell and back, I don't feel the need to mess with it. We will pick up some nice wheels and tires and probably upgrade the horrid stock stereo, but that's it.
Anyway, I'm glad to finally be in a Z.

Good plan.
Putting some fresh rims on your car is a great idea.
However,thats how I started.After spending 15k(actually lost count) on mods,I have to
admit I was addicted the same as I was with every car I've owned.
Glad you are onboard!

Not sure why, after a bunch of black and silver cars, I wanted some color. Red was the way to go for sure

Nah, It has been over 5 years and I trashed them all.
I found a pic of your car and that convinced me to join. My biggest "complaint" if you will with the roadster was the giant football field on the back when the top is down. There was a recent shot of your roadster with the ebay spoiler and I was sold. Joined the forums, and then went to eBay to order one. Should be here in a week.
And thanks everyone for the warm welcome...I was growing tired of car forums after nearly a decade on the Subaru boards.
It has been an absolute riot so far. Now if only Minnesota's weather would decide if it is going to be early spring or early summer. I mean, I am cool with 45 degrees with the top down, but my fiance is tiny and requires at least mid 60s to be comfortable.
