DO NOT USE REGULAR GAS - You will screw the motor up... try and be careful - a 350Z is a far cry from your old tC.

I know man, I know lol
I've heard guys from both sides of the fuel type debate. My stepdad has been running nothing but regular gas in his 2008 Z since the day he got it. He bought the car brand new and to this day has had 0 problems with it, besides the tires seem to not last very long .

I don't know a whole lot about cars, but I've also heard that the newer Z's computers recognize the change in fuel type and will change the timing so the motor does not knock/run rough. Running regular will decrease performance/gas mileage, not arguing there, but it seems useable

Now on the flip side of that...

One buddy with an '03 Performance 6MT- Nothing but cheap bastards had the car before him and they all used not just regular gas but, the ******** corner store regular gas. Motor is ****ed.......that '03 has had a hard life to be fair.

Another buddy has an '05 Enthusiast AT - Car is a cream puff, was bought in late 2011 with 35k miles on it. Obviously a garaged, weekend toy i.e. a Brand New Car by Used Nissan Standards lol Well Jackalope thought he could save a buck and after the first week started putting Regular in it.......yeah motor sounds like **** now.

22 city/28 freeway is normal, youre good.

Regular gas has been put in the Z before without catastrophic results, but theres really no need to risk your new car to save a couple bucks a tank. $4 premium means what, $3.80 regular? Its still expensive, so I dont see the point in cheaping out.

I hope youre not on too tight a budget. Get used to $80 fill ups, $800 tire changes that may last you a year or less, etc.

I never understood why people cheap out and put regular gas in their z's instead of premium (not directed to you op, just in general) Like two members stated above, you are saving a couple bucks. Is that really worth the trouble you MIGHT have? Do you want to risk messing up your engine for a few bucks? That seems illogical to me.

And yes, modding this car the CORRECT way can be pretty pricy. If there is one thing that I learned from being on this forum for a few years, its to not cheap out. You get what you pay for. If you are worried about spending a few bucks extra for gas, I am pretty sure you are going to mod your car with megan/taiwan products.

one last advice, make sure you know which mods you want and don't mod just for the sake of modding. I remember when I first bought the z I wanted a veilside kit with a super loud exhaust and thought that was badass. After going through a few body kits and several exhausts, Ive put my car back to stock with a nismo exhaust, and I couldnt be happier. Sometimes, simple is the way to go.

Yes,the key is planning out what you want the finished product to look like BEFORE you start.Only problem, not everyone is good at doing this. Not everyone has a eye for design or is technically inclined. As body kits are mentioned...it seems that lowering is among the first words to be offered by
someone giving advice,BE CAREFUL.If you don't you may end up with a Z
that is so close to the ground that you are constantly scrapping&cracking
body mods and worse. If you go that route, get the kit installed first, then lower.Different areas of the country have quite different road hazards:speed bumps, steep driveways etc.I got those where I live.I've got a lip, skirts etc
19's--stock height. But my car "looks" lowered due to the body parts.I've got less than 4"clearance in front.A bit more on the sides.I still have to be
careful of steep drives etc.If I lowered say an inch as is pretty common,my
car would be difficult to drive without damage.

Use premium. You can get the car tuned to run on a lower octane, but don't.
You should have known about the mpg upfront.Or,should'nt have bought a Z.
Its interesting that my 03 have about the same miles on it as your car.Except I
bought it new.Always premium...uses no oil, runs like new.
I never go on the cheap side when doing anything on my Z.

This is all correct . After the decrease in MPG from running 87, the $3 savings of not using 91+ is further diminished. These are ways to cut costs, this is really not one of them.

I couldn't agree more. I would put nothing but premium in a Z. I've tried time and time again to tell him that he really should be running premium but he doesn't seem to believe me

welcome. was the accident your fault? hopefully not. the z can be a dangerous car if your not smart about driving it. fwd and rwd cars handle situations very different. you can't expect to make a turn at WOT in a rwd car like the Z like you can with a fwd 4 cylinder.

Id like to be the first to add that the OP did not buy a new 350z.

Its a USED 350z.

Some of us did actually pay 36k for the car.. saying you bought it new when it likely cost you 14 grand years after the fact only further tarnishes the cash we spent on this ride.. which is fine of course, such is life.. but it used to serve as a fantastic limiter for who popped into the forum.. which is ever so quickly turning into Civicforums.com haha.

Here's to hoping youre at least one of the good ones.. but.. we are all jaded now and very pessimistic on the validity of this.

.. in short.. welcome.. to hell! haha.

jus playin.. don beh mad.
