Default New Z Owner In Tampa...

So I just got an 04 Touring with 85,000 miles on it. Black with Motegi Racing Wheels...

So far there is only a couple things that kind of have me a little worried. One is that when stopping i feel a rubbing/vibration and some noise. The dealer told me it was caused by feathering but it seemed much more pronounced than I would think feathering would cause. Second when driving on a normal surface their was an idiot light blinking Slipping. I assume this has something to do with TCS however i wasn't actually slipping but it still cut the pedal off so i could not get it to move forward and started to slow on the highway for a few seconds then it shut off...

All the other stuff is cosmetic...

Your slip light might be coming on because it looks like you have the wrong size tires on the back. Check the tire sizing and let us know the sizes.

Feathering can cause a slight vibration and rumbling sound. You can check the inside edges of your tires to see if they are worn.

You might need to buy four new tires and have the car aligned.

Welcome!

What did the previous owner do to that drivers seat?!?!?! My '03 G has more miles than that and the drivers seat is still in near mint condition.

I have no idea what the last owner was doing with the interior. The dash/center console is all scratched up and the seats are pretty worn.

Front: 245\35ZR19 93W XL
Rear: 275\30zr19 96w

Ill take a look at sfzcc.com...

Thanks for the welcome!

Oh gosh the interior is bad. Look like the last owner let his dog have some fun with the seat. Btw, get rid of the chrome wheels please...

Greetings from the Tampa 'burb of Valrico. Nice ride. I'd consider the advice you've been given so far. I'm relatively new to the Z myself. There's lots of good advice here, and plenty of fun reading about turbos, fat tires and the like. Read through the top 100 questions, good stuff there.

Welcome!
I'm a ex-Tampa guy---Temple Terrace.
The Z looks great in black.I'd get rid of the grille.
The interior(I've got the same burnt orange in my Z)
has seen some abuse.Areas like the console/dash
can be refinished. There are several options. The seats
are really bad.Your slip light coming on is prolly due to
incorrect tire sizes. What sizes are you running?

The tire sizes are on post 6 there... I plan on refinishing the center console/dash. Doing custom leather on the seats and redoing the door panels/headliner. I want to make sure everything is running correctly and in working order first since this is my only car now... I will be picking up another car soon so I can do work on this one without worrying about a project going too long and having to miss work

Heading over to read the FAQ now...

The slip problem is prolly due the size of your rear tire.
Its too short.Sizes that would work:
225/40/19
235/40/19
275/35/19 suggest
265/35/19

I'd sell those wheels and start over.

Sounds like most of the problems are caused by the tires. May I suggest some new wheels/tires package for your Z The chrome wheels doesnt belong there

Actually i just moved from Tampa Palms to Brandon. I would love to get new/different wheels but just bought the car and won't have the money for a couple months. If I got the other size tires would that suffice until I get the what 4k for new wheels?
