Default Blown VQ35HR

hey guys im a fairly new 350z owner and I love the car. The only problem im having is A BLOWN ENGINE I bought the car with 75,000 miles on it I don't drive it hard it now has 86,000 miles and this morning I was going to the atm and when i went to take off the engine made a loud clunk and shut off. I went under the car and started to dissect a little and found oil leaking of corse, large metal pieces and what looked like a small piston ring(of of the oil rings). so im pretty sure it threw a rod. I didn't spend to much time on it since i was really pissed and ive only put 11,000 miles on it. when i bought the car i got a car fax report which had every scheduled maintenance on it and a very clean report. Do i just have bud luck? **** happens I suppose? I kept up with the maintenance as well since the day i got the car. The previous owner also had a average mpg of 25 so I don't think they drove it to hard either, it was also a older female driver as well.

Do these motors have a bad history?
or did i get ****ed by nissan? lol
or just bad luck?

Thanks in advanced

**** does happen…if it wasnt the engine it would be the tranny, if its not the tranny it's the rear diff -

make lemonaide out of lemons…if you ever wanted a built block/turbo setup now is the time. if you want to keep the OEM setup and want to have a little project then start reading and looking for replacement parts, if you want to be done then look for someone that wants a little project and sell to them and buy what you want. If you want an OEM engine but don't want a project then take it to a mechanic and have it rebuilt and know that you got another 100k miles in the new engine.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to keep it OEM. Does anyone know how much it usually cost to rebuild that engine?

Itll depend on what all needs to be machined. Or what you need to buy. Along with parts that should be changed just because the engine is apart. Along with labor unless you plan to do it yourself. So a rebuild could cost anywhere from 500 to thousands. Good luck

Welcome what a sad first post. Good luck with getting it sorted. Maybe back luck, but when buying a pre-loved car, you never know exactly what you'll get even if it has a clear check.

Did exactly this for a club member over here today, the professional mechanical check report came back okayish bar 3 other problems (they missed), but with compression issues added to this.

I would find a lake and use it to go fishing. Then say "like a good neighbor state farm is there"
