Default New Z owner

Hey all. I'm from Arlington Tx, and just got my Z Friday night and loving it. 06 stock touring 6mt with 36k miles for 16k, except for the rims. The body is flawless and picked up a bumper to bumper 45k 36 month warranty. Only issues with the ride are the hatch struts (which I have scoped from z1), some wear on the door armrests, and the possible tire feathering I have read about here (The rubbing sound when braking around 5-20 mph). Been lurking around on these forums since I've been looking for one and decided to finally sign up. I have been in love with the Z model since the 300zx, but have never owned one. Not really into modding, but there are a few things I would like to do, like installing a nav and keeping the factory stereo. Might consider replacing the factory HU in the future, but not sure yet.

Only thing I haven't been able to find are the factory leather armrests, but I may be using the wrong search words. Anyway, awesome site and I try to avoid being flamed so I will not post useless threads without researching first. =)

Congrats, if you want your car stock looking, toss those wheels into the dumpster and get some OEMs.

Congrats on the low mileage Z! Hopefully it doesn't give you oil consumption problems

Looks nice and yes keep an eye on that oil... Revup is known for that. But it looks clean and stock so good find!

I personally don't care for the style of the rims lol

OP, check the following link:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-pa...5_846_857.html

I looked really quickly, but the armrest piece/part number should be in one of those diagrams.

Best of luck, enjoy your Z.

Yea that's what I had been reading around this forum. I'll check it every 1k. Rims came with it, I thought they look ok.

Syner, thank you!

Well, didn't want to make a new thread, so I thought I would use mine. Well, after about 3 weeks and 2k miles, I have been checking the oil regularly and guess what, dun dun dun, oil consumption. So, tomorrow I am taking it to a local Nissan dealer to do the oil consumption test. I have a 45k 36 month warranty that isn't from Nissan (I know, I will probably get effed) so we shall see how it goes.

Still love the car, and even though it would be a PITA putting oil in every 1k I knew what I was getting into and very worth it. Tire feathering is annoying, but regular alignments should take care of that. Replaced the stock hatch struts with some from z1. Also picked up a DNX7100 to install soon. I know it is old, but the nav is still awesome and with all the features it's still fairly cheap at $350 and comes with the steering wheel controls. Then maybe a plenum spacer and popcharger, rear wiper delete, just mild mods. Maybe an exhaust later. Then rims.

However, since I just bought it I am going to go ahead and have them change out all the fluids while I have it there. Tranny/dif/brake. Was wondering if any of you guys might chime in with what you use. I am still searching and researching but wouldn't mind up to date opinions.

Thanks for any constructive input!

Thanks! I love it man, I can't remember who said it on this forum, but every time I get in it, it causes me to have a crease in my face, and it gets bigger when I give gas, might have to see someone. =)

So quote to whomever that was.

Wow!Those arm rests are pretty chewed up!
Other than replacing with OEM parts, another option would be to cover
them carbon fiber molded overlays. They look great, install in a few minutes
and may be cheaper than the OEM parts. The Z Store sells e'm.Think they
are about 150 bucks.

Ha, that is a must with ANYTHING. And thanks.

Starting the oil consumption test today, so we'll see how it goes. The guy I talked to at the Nissan dealership said he deals with the warranty company I have daily and they don't ever give him crap about replacing stuff, even the amount this would cost. The test is only costing $32 so far, and if they have to do the next test he'll charge me then. Said why charge you for something I might not need. Other dealerships were asking for $160 and $190 and said they had never heard of the oil consumption issue with the 350.

Get rid of the wheels and burn those nonsense floormats. Burn down Cowboy stadium if you have time.
