My First Car: An '08 GT 350z Roadster
Hey All,
As a recent college grad who's been driving his parents' cars around and saving up money for the past 6 years, it was with a ridiculous amount of excitement that I was able to grab an '08 GT 350z Roadster with 40k miles as my first car for the working world. I figured it might not be the most practical vehicle, but knew it would be a car that I would have a blast driving every day. And boy, I could have never imagined.
It's definitely a top-down car, but even with the top up, its an incredible ride.
There are a few non-performance modifications I was looking to make in the near future that I'd really appreciate some feedback on. First, I'm huge on being able to play music from my phone, but my 350z sadly doesn't have an AUX port. Additionally, since it has the DVD navigation system, installing one is more complex than it would be if I didn't have the nav system for whatever reason. So I've grabbed a Parrot MKi9200 and the necessary cables and was originally going to attempt the installation myself, but after looking at the giant mass of wires
I'm thinking it might make more sense to have the Geek Squad do it at my local Best Buy.
What I'm wondering is if it makes sense to get rid of my navigation system while they have it removed during the installation of the MKi9200. I've got an iPhone that I use for navigation, and the DVD navigation system seems like its not all that great compared to what we can do on smartphones now anyways. I would only remove it to sell it online, hopefully making up the cost of the glovebox(es) that I would replace it with as well as the MKi9200. The main thing I'm not sure about is if I can get rid of the nav system while keeping the rest of the radio.
Oh, and saving the best for last, pics are attached.

Welcome to the Z world!
You will enjoy your car.
I've said in the past, that Z owners fall into several categories.
That is,what their focus will be when they purchase a Z which
is a pretty darn good sportscar. Some go to performance mods.
Some, its appearance.I never can relate to the third that focuses
onthe sound system, the hell with the other stuff that is a Z.
Any,enjoy figuring out the wiring.

smooth ride, but I wouldn't let geek squad or best buy touch my Z. The last car I let them install a remote start alarm on I got it back with some of the interior plastic melted by a soldering iron. They tried to say it was already there before they worked on it. Ok w/e it wasn't there when I bought the car and I didn't use a soldering iron when I put my car audio in the earlier the same week. Just something to keep in mind.
Thanks for the advice all! I'll do some digging and find a more reputable place to do the repair (which will probably be cheaper than the geek squad anyways), or maybe if I can find a good video/tutorial online I'll do it myself.
Also jcity, I most definitely will be making some performance and appearance mods in the future - it's a Z! However, since I currently don't have an abundant amount of cash (haven't begun my new job yet), to start out I'm just making the audio mods because they're the cheapest of the bunch. :P
Does anyone know of a good place to look for an online guide on how to install a bluetooth audio upgrade?

I also bought a "Grand Touring" 350Z Roadster a few months ago from CarMax. Mine is an '06. Found out that since I don't have Brembo brake calipers, mine is actually a Touring. Same color and equipment as yours but I have the 6MT (ftw) and frosted gray leather. 41K mi and paid $17.9K
You're right, the sound system and navi are integrated. As others have said above, the OEM Bose Navi option is an upgrade. No reason to downgrade to the cubby. I'd like the Aux port or streaming BlueTooth from my iPhone also, but don't want to hack up reliable OEM stuff. Many navi systems, including the iPhone app, are better but don't hack away at the dash. My $.02
Drive it and enjoy it. Top down in a canyon with performance at your fingertips and exhaust ringing in your ears, you won't give a damn about the radio. Make your own music...

Thanks for the advice on the radio too. Since this is my main car I'll be using for the daily commute, having the bluetooth upgrade would be nice, but I'll definitely be careful with it. From everything I've seen about the kit, it's fairly simple plug and play type stuff, so hopefully I won't have to 'hack' at it too much.
It's such a nice drive, so far my only qualm with it is that when I really step on it, the tires always seem to spin out. They're not bald in the slightest, so maybe the Goodyear tires that it came with just aren't the best for the car - if anyone knows of great tires for the Z, I'd appreciate any help!
