Default dte warning light question

I've had my z for several months now and for the most part I just drive it back and forth to work (7 minute drive). So I usually don't really worry about the tank being low, but everytime I start the car instead of it displaying mph, its flashing my dte. I dont mind having the dte feature, but is they any way to turn off the warning it gives you? My driveway is inclined so I have to keep it pretty full (well over 1/4 tank) to keep the warning from being triggered when I start the car. I've looked everywhere, but no info on shutting off the dte warning is available... Not even a post saying you can't do it... Just nothing. I posted this in the new owners section because it seems like this would be a new owner kind of question, but if it needs to be elsewhere, please move it.

Just fill your tank and you won't have a problem.

Just keep it at a half tank. Its better for your car to run like that then on 1/4 tank

Ok so nobody knows how to do it? Nobody knows if it can be done? Kinda already thought of "keep the tank full" ... I don't want to keep the tank full.

I can even accept that turning off the warning can't be done, but I'd like to know that's the case....

Is it possible to cange the warning threshold lower using a consult tool maybe??

Even if there was a way to turn it off, would you really want to disable an important warning light? You can disable any warning feature, but I'm sure it would be difficult to reverse leaving you with no warning permanently.

I know that those dte warnings have saved my forgetful damb@ss a couple of times.

A little creative wiring your DTE and low fuel light will never work again.

Take you car to a dealer and spend a fortune getting this annoying little problem resolved. It would probably be a lot cheaper to keep more gas in your tank. The DTE warning has never been a problem for me since I have never seen the --- or the light illuminate.

Maybe covering the light with duct tape or black electrical tape would be the easiest and cheapest solution.

I'm talking about the flashing numbers showing distance till empty on the triple guage cluster... Not the light by the fuel guage. And I still want my multi guage to work, I just don't want it to automatically switch to the dte warning when it THINKS I'm low on fuel. I've been driving for 20 years with cars that don't warn me and I've never run out of gas yet.

I just push the button. Set it on MPH, and forget it.

I serously don't need a warning that ill need gas by sometime next week :/

How VERY helpful you are..... Should I buy that or a civic hybrid? Does it need to be powder blue or pink to solve my issue with my z? Any particular year? Is that what you did to solve the problem?....

If I ask for an opinion I expect to get a certain amount of sarcasm or rude comments because an opinion is an emotional response... When I ask a question asking for FACTUAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION that has nothing to do with your little girly hurt feelings then you need to STFU.

The sending unit on your fuel pump is probably going bad - that is why the early warning and the light coming on on the fuel gauge. You can either fix that or put up with it. I have been putting up with it on and off for a year now and it IS getting old so going to replace the sending unit and make it go away. There is no way I have heard of to defeat the display and in this case it simply telling you a part is bad anyway.

Thank you so much for that! Very much appreciated

Any idea what a sending unit costs? I remember having to replace the pump on one of my cars and that sucker was pretty expensive (napa was the only place that carried it).... And to add insult to injury that car didn't have an access door like the z... I had to drop the tank :/
