I used to be so ****in obsessed with this car in high school when it first came out. All I could think about it owning it and I would day dream all day about how I can work all day and save and make a $500/month car payment. Such a juvenile way of thinking. Clearly it was out of reach and would not have been a good decision to get at 17 or 18. Probably would have killed myself driving one looking back.
I'm much older now. I sold my S2000 and I decided to revisit the Z. Picked one up today and reignited dat fire! I forgot how amazing the Z looks. Keep turning around and staring while walking away from the car haha
And of course, got my favorite color and got lucky. normally buying used you don't always find the right color + right conditions, etc.
First thing tomorrow, it's getting a wash, interior detail and im going to look into fixing some of the minor cosmetic problems it has.
Compared to my S, let's just say there's way more freakin room. The S is a better car sports wise, not comfort wise. Z is the perfect balance. S2000 looks awesome but Z is one step up in my book. Also I forgot about a thing called "torque" i.e. being able to pass in 6th gear. haha in my S i'd have to shift down to 4 and hear it scream for blood to pass but at the same time, it was so much fun and it invoked this testosterone pumping, aggressive driving style due to the F1 feel from the high revving motor. But having torque in the city... amazing.
I was away from this forum for years, then remembered my password and logged in and to my shock, saw I had over 1000 posts. WTF did I even post about in HS Jesus christ

Congrats on reigniting that ol flame. From the looks of your posts you struggled HARD with Zdiction. HA! I can't believe you were negotiating around 30k for a 2003/4. That's insane. One guy on there said "the 05s will be worth it" or something. hahaha It's like a time machine. I got my HR for under 25k and I'm thinking 35k for a 370??? lulz
GratZ on the "new Z" what year did you end up getting?

I got a 2005 Black 350z 6 speed, my favorite color. It sucks having a nice car but not the color you want. I had a silver s2000 and it would bug the crap out of me that it wasn't black. Now, I'm completely satisfied. I love this car.
I had to replace the clutch master and slave cylinder, fixed some things here and there. Spent a weekend washing the car, restored the yellow hazy headlights back to clear, installed a Godspeed exhaust (sounds incredible btw. best exhaust sound IMO. it's very deep and growly). I'm going to sand down the titanium exhaust tips and polish it to be shiny. If it doesn't look good, I'm going to find some rolled tips and weld them on. rolled looks nicer.. more exotic and classy.
Next week, I'm going to clay bar the entire car, polish up the paint and wax it.
Got a few more things I want/need to do, particularly some kind of bracket or mount that I can put my phone dock onto. I'm sick of grabbing around for my phone trying to change the pandora or music station, navigating on googlemaps, etc.
Here are some pictures (hopefully they were resized ok):

Looks good. Don't care for the wheels or Godspeed anything performance/handling, but it's your Z! I'm the same way about color-I did all I could to get my PPW Z (only to find out YEARS later that they DO make Daytona Blue HR Zs-doesn't matter, still want white) I even "settled" for a Base Model since I didn't want leather and I already put a VLSD in it on the cheap. Cruise? you mean b1tch switch? lulz. I do wish I had Brembos, but those could come in the future and I would be underutilizing them now anyway.
meanwhile......... good luck with your Z and keep us posted future plans!
