Default Newbie Here!

Hey fellow Z owners. My name is Brashen and I just got my first 350Z tonight and so far I love it. It's a 2007 Carbon Silver Nissan 350Z Touring.

I am the 2nd owner of the car and I picked it up with 52000 miles.

Here's a pic of the actual car.
(Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic...)

It does, however, have an issue with going into 5th. It doesn't grind, just pretty difficult to put into gear.
If anyone has any info on the issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Looks my my '08's twin - nice car. The 5th gear issue could be slight misalignment of the shifter, or maybe an oil issue. Both easy to fix.

Went through a similar issue with my '08, you might take a look at these threads:

https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...ide-plate.html

and:

[url]https://my350z.com/forum/engine-drivetrain-and-forced-induction-diy/477784-shifter-re-alignment.html[/url

On mine, the shifter started hanging up between 5th & 6th. It's not a difficult fix but take care when removing the ****. Nissan uses lock-tite to fix it in position.

Nice Z, enjoy it.

Hey there Brashen, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase of what looks to be a really tidy looking '08HR. I hope you're looking forward to many hundreds/thousands of miles of fun motoring. Enjoy.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words and help.

timeltel, that sounds exactly like the problem I have. My shifter goes to far to the right. I will definitely try and fix the issue when I get home.

Laozy: More pics:

http://www.rogueengineering.com/pdf/...er_install.pdf

Through #7.

After lifting the shifter trim piece, Nissan recommends vice grips on the lever, then wrapping a piece of radiator hose around the base of the ****. Turn counter-clockwise with slip joint (channel lock) pliers.

Others suggest a second pair of vice grips, pipe or adjustable wrenches, base of the **** protected with leather, cloth or chamois. There are also numerous reports of destroyed ***** and spun shift levers.

Hold the shift lever tight to the left in both 5th & 6th & adjust the alignment plate so there's a credit card's gap between it & the lockout stud on the lever. Check for function before tidying things up, you're done. (BTW, it took a good grip but my shifter **** spun off by hand.)

Have an idle moment?

timeltel, it turns out the shifter just needed to be realigned. I was able to fix it at work and it no longer gets stuck in 5th. Thanks for helping me out.

Ya, I don't think the price was too bad. I went from messing around with older Hondas/Acuras to a 1 owner, low mile 350Z, so I really can't complain haha.
