Default 2008 coupe - Fun change for a truck girl

Hey all. I've actually been a member here for a while. I mostly lurked, learning what I could about Z's before I went off and bought one. And, as meticulous as I am, it took me a few years to actually buy one. But I finally bought a 350Z base, a 2008 with 25,000 miles on the clock, about as perfect as any new car rolling off the showroom floor and relatively untouched as it was owned by an executive who only took it out on the weekends

I thought I'd introduce myself instead of continuing to lurk in the shadows.

Below is a photo of the car, next to my first true love, my Powerstroke diesel. Kinda fun to have something that'll do things the truck won't, such as rail around corners, and fit in parking garages.

No mods yet, but I have turned it into my daily so I'm not sure I will.

Thanks. I assure you I exist, but I am in my 30's and nearly married so, this bit won't be nearly as fun for you guys I don't think. Besides, girls in cars must be relatively common. I went through forum initiation years ago back when there really were no women in the diesel scene.

Welcome to the boards!

What are your plans for the new sled? Mild mods for track? or just a sporty daily?

Haha well that is a loaded question isn't it? Obviously I can't keep my hands off things and I am a pretty decent wrench so, really it'll come down to how many times that guy down the road with the new Stingray thinks he can be a jerk to me and get away with it before I get a hair up my ***.

I looked into tuning, and that was shockingly expensive. I'd be lying if "350z turbo" didn't show up in my internet search history.

Please don't take my post the wrong way. Twas just a bit of humor this afternoon. Truly welcome to the forums even though you lurked for a while. Any more info on your truck? it looks nice.

No worries man, I am not easily offended.

The truck is heavily modified. Actually, that was part of the motivation for finally making a move on a Z. The truck is a 7.3L Powerstroke that I have modded as far as I can take it on the reliability scale (1000+ ft lbs torque tends to blow up stock parts), and if I continue to do work to it, I needed something a bit more daily-friendly. The truck has hybrid injectors, custom tunes, a high-flow oil pump, a slew of max airflow and fuel mods, and this summer I plan a set of compound turbos, which will likely toast the transmission in short order...so, you know, the little Z gets to be work wheels while I install a transmission in the truck.

Welcome to the forum Smokin’, happy to have you here as this place has a decidedly lack of extra X chromosomes. (Also known as the beauty to beast ratio.) One question though, how do you get away without displaying a front license plate in Denver? From spending time in Bolder I came to understand that the local constabulary and even the parking enforcement people were always vigilant for the opportunity to ticket these tiny offences.

Thanks Jennifer. Always happy to help out in the estrogen department. Legit question. The photo was taken before the car had plates, and admittedly I photochopped the front plate off the truck. I think it's best practice not to blast out personal information and anyone with "friends" can look up a tag number. Not that I qualify as being interesting enough for that to happen... but, you know. I'm a semi-theorist hermit who enjoys hot cars?

Surprised there aren't many women in here.

Coming from the "domestic" scene you will be quick to learn that modding is a bit more money with these cars (at least from my experience, however there is always an exception to the rule).

provided you have an HR (07-08) A tune will be helpful with supporting mods; mostly Test pipes, headers, and exhaust. Many will argue the fact with headers since its so minor but everything helps. There are many hitting 300whp or so with minor bolt ons and an uprev tune. Anything beyond that starts getting excessive unless you go with FI which you will soon find is very expensive.

Of course this is all subjective haha. I have an 08 myself with Stillen Headers, TP, gemini TD exhaust and JWT pop chargers. I have been slackin on getting an uprev reflash since i bought the car...but it most def will be my next "upgrade"

welcome to the forums, like some one else stated - hard to believe, so photos would be appreciated.

I'd def use the Z as a daily as well, mpg aside i'd imagine its easier to maneuver in traffic lol, and you don't have to risk going to court for running over a prius.

anyhow; best mods for the hr;

intake, HFC, exhaust, uprev tune ~300whp, plenty to haul around a 3500lb car.

won't be a fast car, but a pretty peppy daily.

And the longest lurk award goes to....... December 2012?

Were you actively searching this whole time or just sorting things out?

I think I lurked on here for a month and when I saw all the PPW Zs disappearing I had to pull the trigger.

My suggestion to you would be to get some kind of sway bars after a month or two of driving. Get a feel for the car and then throw some of those on there-HUGE change. Biggest "butt dyno" mod for feel that I have done (vs exhaust/pop chargers)

I can't see pix of the truck, car, or yourself at work, but I'm subbed for them all

Welcome to the board(actively)!

Oh no...haha. I know a thing or two about expensive parts. There's a saying...diesel parts are twice as big, twice as strong, twice as expensive. Custom tunes on the diesel ran me about $500, so I was (naive) shocked to see how expensive they are on these cars.

Well, not everyday or anything...but every time I had a question I was able to search it out, instead of asking. never know what I already know about all of you.

Wait...Cmon I'm hand calc-ing like 22 mpg. That isn't good? LOL. Going to court for running over a Prius...you had me lolz as it has come close to happening many times. That and people 1) greatly underestimate the truck, so they see it'll move and do stupid **** like 2) get in front of me and slam on the brakes...a flying 8,000 lbs attempting to stop = wheel hop and hulk smash. Physics, and stuff.

ok ok..here's a recent pic. Hunting last year.
