So I bought my first car yesterday and can you guess what it is?
122,212 off the lot, 4th owner. Started the car right up COLD bright and early in the morning. Seller handed me the keys right away and said, "Do you know your way around town?" I said I would figure it out, lol.
Shifts smooth and engine runs great. Has a few kinks in cosmetics but nothing I wont be able to fix. I came from a 2000 Nissan Maxima so this is a HUGE difference in feel and performance. I now have something fun to drive before and after my long, grueling days at school/work. Overall, I am happy to have made a purchase like this since life is too short to drive a boring car.
First thing to be done is to get that head unit out and put in my old amp + sub!
For the oil consumption It might behoove you to invest in a catch can, and keep an eye on the spark plug tubes. if there is oil in there, then the valve covers need to be replaced.
just check it weekly for a bit to see if yours is one, congrats on the car sir
I will but hopefully not! Thanks mate

I really haven't learned about how a car burns oil because I've really only had one before hand and it didn't burn oil(2k maximaw). I'm only 22 so I'm really only just starting to explore the world of cars and their mechanics so I'm also here to learn. To my understanding, it could be valves seals, guides, or piston rings that allow the oil to be burned instead of recycled back through-out the engine. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I understand how a catch can works, it traps the oil vapors going through your valve covers with air still able to be passed freely, but how would it stop oil from burning if seals, guides or rings are bad? I wouldn't mind installing one and the process seems cake. Would you recommend a certain brand?
My 2k max had the vq30de-k so it had the aluminum valve covers and I was able to take both of them off to swap the tube seals without having to replace the covers. I am also(a lot less) familiar with the vq35. My parents both have a Nissan Murano('04 and '14), and I've learned the 3.5 a little by doing occasional maintenance on them. I've had to replace the left bank valve cover on the '04 and noticed the new one came with the seals already on. Is this the same for the Z?

I Z what you did there!
Thanks for the enlightenment, without carefully comparing them side by side, it's hard to notice the difference. I'm happy with my color though
