Default New to me 04 Z - first car!

Hey guys, I just graduated college and got a "real boy" job and have always wanted a Z. I'm 23, and I've previously only had experiences in trucks and motorcycles. Finally decided to treat myself and buy this 04 6mt z, completely stock with 113k miles. Gotta say I'm very pleased. Interested in getting some good info from the forums, and getting to know the family!

First thing I would recommend if you have always driven trucks is just stay mindful of your speed. I remember when I got my first car and driving home I was just driving what I thought was the speed limit and looked down and I was going 100.

Between 16-21 I pretty much only owned pick-up trucks.

Looks pretty clean, but be sure to replace that cracked or missing front undetray. Z Speed makes the best replacement, in aluminum, rather than plastic. Also, if your fenderliners are missing, better replace those, too, or you'll have issues with the headlights. Rock Auto sells them cheaply.

Good to know. I'll be looking into those. As far as the running gear, I couldn't be happier. Very smooth. Feel like I got a decent deal. I paid 5500. Which is slightly above blue book, but in my area there are no clean, stock ones. This was the cheapest in my area. The next step up was an 03 with 215k for 6 grand. All the others were asking 8+ and they had horrible mods.. most had Lambo style doors lmao.

welcome to the forum and congrats on becoming a Z owner. So glad you didn't pull the trigger on something with Lambo doors. Finding a Z that's stock with a 100K on it is a rare thing unless the previous owner/s returned it back to stock to sell it. You just need some nice rims now.

Black is beautiful, I agree. Had one, remember?

But I sold it because of what Herbert and Henry said. Who wants one when every average person has a chicken in the pot and a black car in every garage?

And with that, heading off to my homemade bomb shelter.

< WHOOOOOOSH >

Gone.

And likely - speaking of old - those under 50 don't understand that comment.

Well.. just a few updates. Had to order rear tires for it. Not an issue. But also, the oil pressure sensor is bad, fuel level sensor is bad, check engine light came on - thermostat is stuck open, and a knock sensor is bad. All little things that add up to a very annoying experience. I'm in love with the car though. I've ordered an oem thermostat. It should be in in a couple of days. Just gotta tackle one thing at a time.

Those problems are not unusual on a car with 113k miles. My 2003 has 115k miles. I’ve replaced my oil pressure sender, camshaft and crankshaft sensors, and oxygen sensors. I would advise searching this site for help with your gas gauge problem. The fix may be simple.

Well I don't know where I got 113k from. It had 136k when I bought it. 138k now and still feels like the day I bought it. New tires on, replaced the thermostat today. It was stuck open. Not getting to operating temp, but seems to be doing well now. Also - apparently not completely stick. While replacing the thermostat I realized it has a new mishimoto radiator. Don't know if it was wrecked then replaced, or someone thought it would be a nice addition.

on another note, I've noticed that literally every lifted truck I pass on the highway, or in town wants to race. Like, why? Why do you do this to yourself? I normally don't oblige to their attempts. But either way. The biggest issue I have with the car, is that my girlfriend hates it. Says it's a girl car. Lmao.

But seriously. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

^^ The 350z is not popular with females, who statistically do not buy the Z car.

An example of a 2 door sport car that is a "girl car" is the Audi TT.
