350Zs aren't special gold plated wonder cars that deserve any more or any less inspection than ANY car you buy used. In other words, you need to pay attention to everything.

Perhaps if you elaborate with specifics, someone can give you the low down on those particular year cars you're looking at. Like how SOME '06s burn oil and some don't, the early cars had higher incidence of transmission issues - particularly bad synchros on 3rd gear in the CD000-CD008 models, stock suspension on the '03-04.5s were sub-par to the 04.5+, etc. etc.

Point is, doesn't really matter what you get if the SERVICING and MAINTENANCE have been good to great.

A well cared for and loved '03 Enthusiast model is far more "desirable" than a much desired but stupid to buy '08 Nismo that's had lousy maintenance and an uncaring, abusive owner.

After it is all said and done you will need one more thing.
LUCK. Some issues only become apparent only after driving for a while. Very common for owners to take out aftermarket goodies and hastily replace them with stock parts right before selling. Others do a good job in getting things done right even though they are parting with the car.
