Default New owner... probably

Hi all, i'm new here. Picked up the 04, silver, m/t last month.
Found at FB market cheap that made me go right away to check the car. The body overall in good shape, engine sounds normal, transmission smooth since the owner just replace the clutch, nothing leaking under the car. The front suspension make a noise when hit the bump, the owner said it needs new shocks. Feel a vibrate little bit from inside the car, not sure whats wrong.
But with that condition and the price he offer, i decided to buy it without thinking to much. This is not my first time buy a used 'sports' car. I used to have G35 and G37 before, so i familliar with that car.
The guy also gave me a new oil and tell me to change it soon. So i go straight to my friend's shop and drop the car there. I told him to fix and replace few things, include oil change (with the oil from the owner). Not in rush because i have another dd car.
After few days there and done with few things, my friend call me (I was hoping he told me the car done and ready) but instead start telling me bad news. He said the car lose power right after he changed the oil, and make a white smoke. That moment i got broken heart there
He checked the compression and all of them were low, around 120ish. After minutes trying to solve the problem, he said the better way to fix is to get a used good engine.
After few days later, engine is in and working but another thing come up. He said he still feel the power not like it suppose to. He tought the cat converter were clogged because the CEL is on. Now he's trying to install the straight pipe and if everything work out after that, i need to replace the cat converter.

Sorry for the long bad story, i just wanna share. This is my worst experience so far by buying used car.
But whatever, i still love the Z. I hope it will fix soon and meet some of you out there.

Thats tough. I have same issues with a 96 Chevy Silverado. Everytime I think its fixed something else happens but when new trucks selling for 45K putting 1K into a good truck doesnt sound to bad. So stay in for long haul. with new sports cars selling for 37K having one that might end up costing you 10 - 15K including purchase price isnt too painful and you get the same experience for way less money and you have a ride that is really yours.

Z Roach, yeah thats what i'm thinking too. At least i got the car for cheap and got engine with fewer mileage. So i can keep it for a longer time.
