Default Is 2003 350z worth it

I'm am currently looking at a 2003 350z track edition with 39000 miles and is in fantastic condition inside and out. It has brand new headlights belts, air intake, competition clutch, and exhaust

I took it for a test drive and everything seems to be running great and honestly could not find anything wrong

They are asking 9000 for it but I'm not too sure if that is really worth it

That’s a respectable ASKING price for such a low mileage car. With some negotiations and a fair, motivated seller... ~$8000 would be a reasonable drive away price. IMO...

Again, I suggest you PAY a Nissan or ASE-certified tech to do a full mechanical assessment of the Z if you're serious about buying it. A full written report should be produced and will give you a better idea of the overall condition. Best $200-300 you'll spend!

I will second that. I was at the Z store in Houston having my car checked out 2005 with 45k on it (paid 8k) for it. It had missing interior pieces so it was not pristine. The owner of the Z store did a compression test and went through the entire car for me. Luckily, mechanically the car checked out clean. It did however had the "normal" issues of a car that age. Here we go. Leaking failed bushing on rear diff, leaking spark plug valve cover gasket, two shocks had minor leaks. With all this he said, "cleanest car we have seen in years mechanically". All of these things are to be expected with a 15 year old car, but at the least they will provide you some points to negotiate the price of the car down easily. The word of caution is also, the Z store guy told me "you would not believe how many 3k to 5k cars are brought in here after a purchase and we find they need 4k -8k of work done on them!" Of course, those are high millage cars with 100k plus. Hey, also, run a CARFAX on the car. All you need is the VIN and while far from perfect, it will tell you a LOT. I used it on every car I was serious about and found all kind of concerning things, including wrecks and flooding on one!! All you need is the VIN to check it out. Have the owner just take a picture of the VIN tag on the inside door and send it to you.

I took my time to find a car that had stayed in the same State, had the fewest number of owners, had no negatives crash etc. It varies by State a lot, but in Texas every time you get new inspection tags done each year they record the millage. You get a nice linear story about the miles to see if it makes sense to you. In my case the first owner had it 7 years, the second owner was a doctor who owned it another 7 years in The Woodlands where I live. The last guy was a 20 year old who purchased it, but only had it about 8 months, got a girl pregnant and had a baby and needed to sell the car. He was the wonder boy who started taking pieces out of the interior and doing crazy stuff. Luckily, or unluckily, he was not mechanically inclined, so he left all the mechanicals stock and did not touch any of that. I have spent a lot of time, putting together the interior from what he had done. Most of it was done incorrectly, but I understood that was the case when I bought it. I bought it because of the low miles and mechanically stock and in great condition.

A 2003 Track Edition 350z with such low mileage is certainly worth $9k. I recently spent > $9k on my 2003 Performance model 350z that has 130k miles. That is probably not the best investment, but I really like this car. The Track Edition is significantly better equipped than the Performance model 350z.
