I purchased my z with 115k and I’ve put maybe 150miles since then. I have royal purple high mileage 5w30 in it. Yesterday it was the coldest day so far where I live (it was about 27F) and I warmed my car up, went to the post office and back which only takes about 5 minutes and when I got back I heard a ticking sound in my engine. I turned my car off and let it sit for a while. After about 30 minutes to an hour I started it back up and let it warm up and there was no ticking sound. I gave it a little gas and the sound came back. Gave it a little gas again and the sound disappears. I do this a couple more times some times it goes away and comes back sometimes it stays. Any advice on what is causing the ticking?

 

Get a video of the sounds ... could be the start of a spun bearing or valve lifter issue.

 

Quit using royal purple imho
