Hey, my new to me 2006 revup 350z started giving me major oil issues. I’m burning around 2-3 qt of oil every 500 miles and I’m basically at 0 qt at 600-700 miles. I changed the pcv valve and checked my compressions and no issues there but still burning like crazy. There is also no leaking on top of the engine that seem like it would be valve cover gaskets (correct me if I can be wrong about this though). I have no idea where to even start looking for the issue. If it help my exhaust is pure black covered inside and out in black dust and every morning it spits out oil when I first started (I only noticed cause it stained my fence black lol). Any suggestions would be super helpful as I’m still learning with this car!
here’s some photos to see if anyone can tell what’s wrong.
Do (or have) a leakdown test done to identify source of consumption. Or, better stated, "comfirm that you have compression and oil ring issues" which are associated with - actually the main culprit - of the well know VQ Revup oil consumption issues. Not all Revups have this issue but it sounds like yours does. Fix is generally a straightforward ring job. But regardless, a pain in in the tuckus.

This^^^ is insightful and straightforward advice for the OP. Like many posts these days, there's no mention of overall mileage or what kind of regular maintenance this Z has had. Oil consumption problems with the revup VQ variant have been well-documented and should've been caught with a proper PDI before purchase.
