Newbie, please help..
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but I've been a Z lover for years. I am only 17 yrs. old and I do not have money to go out and buy a brand new Z.. :-(
My dad is giving me $10k to spend onto a car...So I found a great Z, it is a 2003 Touring 6spd (black/orange leather inside - my fav), with only 15k miles on it. It is being sold for $7, 160!! I called the dealer, and it is true, he said I could stop by to check the car out and stuff.
It needs front bumber/rear bumper/left headlight/and it has a slight crack on the windshiled. It is CLEAN title. It was an insurance settlement vehicle, and it was traded in...
You think I'll be able to fix it up for $3k ? I know alot about cars, I've taken clases before, and I've worked on my old car...
There are few other Z's on sale for under 12k, and there is one that has been stolen, and taken for an abusive ride and it is being sold for $8k, no scratches on the body, nothing..I guess tranny suffered there, but says that still runs good..
Anyways...you can check these cars out on www.wreckeddeal.com
and tell me what you think. Is it worth it or not ?
Again, I appreciate your help, and I hope to join the Z community..

Depending on which state you live in your insurance company may be required to replace the windshield without a deductible. You would definitly be able to replace the bumpers and headlight for 3k. If I'm correct the bumpers run around 600-700 bux each...not sure on the headlight.

Oh yea, I forgot. I've seen pictures, doesn't look bad at all, radiator is still in tact, and so is everything else, it's just a bolt on bumper..
Also, these guys sell parts when they strip down cars and sell them as parts only, so I can buy few parts there.

If you're smart, you'll buy the car for 7K, sink whatever you have to into it to make it look normal, sell it for 23K or whatever book value is, then take the 13-ish K in profit and plus your original money and go pay cash for an un-wrecked car from a known source (like from someone on this forum.)
In fact, I might just buy that car and do this myself!!

There is something else wrong with that car for that price. Probably frame damage, heck did you try the engine, ect.
If it is just those items the dealer would sink that money into it and make $10K profit. Sounds fishy if you ask me.
Do your homework on this one, you are a young young man, so bring your dad along or a friendly mechanic.
Post pics, I'm interested in seeing them. Post multiple one with different angles, ect.
Oh and my picture is no pun intended for you,

Heeey, let's not get any ideas like that..hah
There are few other Z's that can be fixed up easily..Go check it out, but leave the $7k alone, please. Few to pick from, not bad.

I am not paying $15 to view some wrecked cars, sorry man. You can buy the one posted in my picture. Just a little damage, a few hundred and its like brand new again. Hell I'll even sell you some 26" spinners like I have on my Z.

I can't post any pictures because they won't let me copy paste nor save, arghh. Frame is in tact, I asked about that, because no matter how cheap the car is, if frame is damaged, it's not worth it. I think you have to register to view other cars and pictures, and info on cars - my dad did this few weeks ago, and it's cool, it's like eBay..When I have nothing to do, I sit here and look at all these sports cars and stuff...
