Keeps the car wet, hence dampener. Not completely drenched though. If you want that, get drencheners.

thank you!

Can this type of "mod" be done on any car with the right size dampener and mounting locations? How beneficial/noticable is this though?

Uhhhh, ya know ugly pennies spend just as well as pretty pennies. And they have great personalities too.

Interesting. I've seen a lot of discussion lately about chassis stiffening with some aftermarket companies selling braces that go under the car to lessen chassis movement. Super Street is doing a project STI and used some of these pieces from Carbling. They said the one that made the biggest difference was one that mounted behind the front seats between the two front seatbelt floor mounts. That's a similar position to the rear Yamaha damper on the Nismo Z. It looks like the two Yamaha dampers could be retro-fitted. I am sure the Nismo guys know what they're doing but that extra strut bar in the front? I wonder how much difference it really makes? Must do something for them to spend the money to put it on every Nismo Z.

Also, I thought these were not done in the Nissan factory but were done by another company Nissan contracts. Sort of like a Calloway Vette or something like that. Anybody know? Just curious.

Autech. The Sports Car International article I started a thread about says the Yamaha dampers keep the car from acting like a tuning fork once all the stiffening is done. It is F1 technology.

there is nothing that money can't buy, just most things ppl can't afford, lol

Just a question as im no engineer, but since that's a four door aren't the dynamics of that positioning for the damper different? i would think the dynamics would be much different considering the CoG. And i would think that the necessity of the front damper is only that - a necessity- as i would trust a group like Nismo even their contracted help

Unf'inbelievable.
And "a more central centre", lol.
A high center of gravity causes body roll and less control among other things. This is why people lower their cars for better handling, not eqip them with lift kits.

I believe I read that the suspension is about 35% stiffer than a normal Z

Only if your car is stitch-welded and as stiff as the Autech body. So, the answer is most-likely "no" on the transplant, unless you stitch-weld.
