Default Sick to death...NISMO Spoiler update

So I get told in December by my Insurance company that the replacement NISMO spoiler would be here in January after the accident (see earlier threads).

I had called Nissan USA, and had asked them to also do some investigating behind the scenes there (giving them the insurance details so they could speed up delivery etc).

I get a call back last night from Nissan USA to tell me that they have gone to the highest levels within the USA and even talked to Japan - and as this part is not made by Nissan directly (I'm guessing Autech make it) it's going to take another 3 months from now for them to make it and ship it from Japan.

This frankly baffles me, as I registered the accident and the insurance put the order in last September!!!

I could have made my own damn spoiler out of plastic by now....

I am seriously pissed about the whole affair, and to be honest - am beginning to regret buying it... the car looks like **** - and I'm not enjoying driving it at the moment.

I am going to write to the head honchos at Nissan (Ghosn) and complain about it, for all the good it'll do most likely...

As the poster above says - it looks lovely when it's complete.

I just hate the look without the spoiler on it.

That really sucks!!!

Have you talked to Zcarbandit? I know he is able to get authentic bumpers, maybe he can help you out with the spoiler

He mentioned previously that he had the bumpers - but not anything else.

I am presuming that they built some replacement bumpers thinking that these would be first in an accident, which makes sense.

I know it was a stupid thing to happen, but you'd think they would build a few just in case of heavy collisions etc.

Just not happy that you buy the flagship car (at least until GTR) and they don't have the infrastructure there to cope with it.

wow that sucks. i just took my z out for the first time in a month (weather in ohio) and i can imagine how it would feel.....not right. i would look like even a bigger ******* driving the way i do with an incomplete car. but that red evo would still only see my tail lights, with or without the spoiler. good luck bro. i know a nissan rep from here and he is getting me AUTECH decals so i will see if he can talk to them about this problem & i will get back to you.

I was told this at younker nissan at the parts sales department before I bought my Nismo Z at another dealer. In certain words the parts guy told me that the nismo is such a limited edition car that crash parts weren't yet available and may even not be available including bumpers for a certain period. This is part of what makes this car different from the run of the mill. If you crash it you won't be able to fix it like a typical nissan. This is part of what made me buy one. Once I heard they were only building 1500 cars I had to have one. It is the risk you take when you buy a limited model like this Sometime it can take months before it can be fixed. With cars like these, you have to be patient. It will come back together, Its not a nissan altima. It Is a Nismo Z.

Thanks man. I do drive aggressively too, and most people are still staring at it - I just hope it's not in a "****** ricer" way, although I suspect it is.

I do understand this, it is always the risk you take. I'm just disapointed that it's taken 7 months to do. Even if they worked on piece by piece, it shouldn't take 7 months to create a spoiler... surely??

I suspect it's a communication issue between the insurance company, the body shop, Nissan USA and NISSAN/Autech Japan.

As I'll never know - I have to just assume they are incompetant.

I'll still be writing my letter - although will be tempering it with the understanding that it's a rare car.

Wow.. yeah - looks like there is a need for them to get Autech making the parts.

They have to realize that the roads generally over here are awful. People will always be banging and hitting things that are out of their control.

sorry - been away.

It was a sad and stupid story. It's in the original thread, basically reversed out of the garage, and hadn't shut the trunk properly. It caught

It was totally my fault.

Yeah - we all do stupid things sometimes. The day in question was a nightmare for me, it was a combination of being tired after work - and excited about getting the NISMO short shifter. I wanted to fit it myself, and after putting in the cargo net in, I can't have closed it properly.

I have said this before - the trunk in the 07's seems to be very stiff, I don't know if that's just because it's new and my 04 had worn out - but I'm sure it wasn't that bad when I first got the 04.

Perhaps it's stiffer because of the aero deck?

Anyway - it happened. First stupid thing in almost 18 years of driving. My wife has done worse in both one of my old cars and one of hers.

However, I don't get mad about these things as it can happen to anyone really - no matter how long they've been driving.

I'm glad I hadn't gotten mad in the past actually - as it would have opened a hole can of whoop *** this time round

------

Lastly - big props to DAVEB, for contacting me about this issue. It turns out that the parts maybe available after all, and I've passed his contact details to my insurance company to ask them to call him.

I understand thanks to SOLO too for putting him onto my thread.

Can't thank you guys enough - best decision in a long time to join here.

Update:

Progressive called me and said that the body shop had contacted DAVEB and it looks like they'll be in Houston Friday or Monday, and that I'll be contacted to bring my car in next week.

Thank goodness for that!

I will give her a lovely wax and polish on return to show how much I love her

Thanks again Dave..
