Default NISMO 08' options/acc question

Can anybody that has purchased a new 08/07 NISMO answer my query?

I see on the nissan site that the NISMO package for 08 doesnt include the in dash GPS navigational package, subwoofer set, bluetooth, xm, or most of the features that the Grand Touring includes. Is there any way to get these factory installed before I drive off the lot (expecting to buy an 08 NISMO as soon as I get back to the US). I'd like to have the options and accessories added from the dealer, does the website saying that the options are not available for the NISMO mean that they CAN NOT be installed or just that they are usually not installed.

Thanks

NISMO is NISMO, and that's it! If you want all that extra options and accessories, maybe you should get the GRAND TOURING and ADD the extras parts to "LOOK LIKE" NISMO....coz there is no other way to have what you are looking for.

The NISMO only features ENTHUSIAST equipment, plus BREMBO braking system, NISMO super-lightweight wheels, enhanced aerodynamics kits, body weld reinforcements, NISMO-tuned sport suspension and NISMO-tuned exhaust. There is no way that factory NISMO will allow you ADD factory GPS, BOSE audio system, bluetooth or XM that you mentioned.

So conclusion, forget what you are asking for, coz it will be IMPOSSIBLE~~~ NOW WAY MAN~~~

Ask a dealer if you can special order one with NAV. They are not going to turn down money. They might if they are dumb.

Anyway. You can get better GPS in the aftermarket. I am disappointed withthe factory GPS. it looks great and it works, but you can't do ANY customization of things. It does not remember recent Point Of Interest searches. If you do a search on "starbucks", you have to enter that in every time. it will remember a previous destination, but if that was a Starbucks 200miles back on your road trip, what good is that. The technology is SO there, they are just getting complacant - like they did not even think about it. Just stupidity! What PITA. You can have the screen show you all restaurants or no reastaurants. You can't program to see certain chains. It just sucks.

Knowing what's on the horizon (no pun intended!) in the form of mobile, local search with voice input, combined with Navigation, I am totally frustrated with modern GPS units. I bought it because I am very "directionally challenged", shall we say and I can get seriously lost in a big city. (I once got lost in the WRONG part of LA )

The bose system in the 350z is one of the WORST "upgraded" stereos I have EVER heard in a car. The mids and highs are OK, but the so-called "subwoofer" is false advertising and a deliberate act of deception by Nissan.

I have a paper plate in my cupboard that is 10" in diameter, but that does not mean I can sell it as a subwoofer! Dude, really. I have the bose in my 07 and my wife has the base stereo in her 06. Her base stereo, faded to the front to play ONLY her front speakers, puts out more and lower bass than my 10-inch BLOSE "sub". It is REALLY that bad.

SO - Just get the nismo. You will not be able to recreate the nismo body parts or suspension , including the additional welds in the frame. You can get after-market GPS and Stereo gear that will be better than the facroty upgrades.

If the NISMO was out when I bought my 07, I would have bought that instead - no question.

thanks hiz
i didnt know that the 7 speaker system was such a lame deal, ive only test driven an 07 base model and that speaker system seemed adequate. i just assumed that the 7 speaker subwoofer system would be worth having factory installed.

unless someone mentions that the gps/nav system or the bluetooth integration is really really really worth having installing factory ill just have to get aftermarket, the nismo is still double-din right???

and thanks for not using obnoxious bold and multicolored lettering.

nismo is nismo, wow...

You're post with all the funky colors, sizes, and smileys was unnecessary. Use spell check as well.

I remember some older track models being retrofitted with the OEM GPS, so it should be possible. XM or sirius shouldn't be that difficult, but I'd assume the BOSE system would cause issues. You'd be better off with an aftermarket sound system anyhow.

Oh and kenny, I have to agree, the smileys you use in your posts are a bit much.

Don't fret over the OEM GPS nav system, you're better off getting a Garmin or TomTom system anyway. There are many threads on how to do clean, seamless installs in the cubbyhole, that also allow you to take the GPS out of the car when you need it, which is nice.

The Bose premium system, however, would be nice to have over the normal non-bose system.

Not too impressed with the NISMO. I saw it at the opening day of the Houston Auto Show yesterday. Looks like a Track Model with a LeMans kit on it.

looks being only part of the Nismo......it is obvious you haven't driven one. Then 1. You may feel differently about them
2. Until then your opinion is meaningless

Nissan will not allow a NISMO to be special ordered. You can not get NAVI or any of those items on a NISMO. The NISMO Z is a track based car and it is designed to be as light as possible without the luxury items you do not need. Don't buy a NISMO if you don't want a track prep car.

Yeah - I was a little disapointed that they didn't come with things as standard. I just weighed up the pro's and cons and decided that it was better to have the nice track improvements and looks than a nav system and a "better" stereo.

I would have liked an MP3/I-Pod jack though - that does **** me off a little as I do not want to mess with the original stereo.

When you look at the weight of these extras, they really aren't that much - nothing that is going to make a massive difference considering the differences in weight of the driver and skill at the track.

I was given a Garmin Nuvi for Christmas, and fitted it pretty losely in the cubby hole so it could be removed. worked for me so far, just need to get an FM transmitter for it now so I can listen to Audio Books and MP3's.

Still not going to be as good as an actual MP3 jack... but hey ho.

edit - oh yes forgot to mention that the dealership told me in no uncertain terms that they would not retro fit anything and there was no option to change it prior to delivery. They were made in the special production line in Japan - and that was it.

I asked the same when I bought mine. I slapped the dealer in the face with $33K like "B*tch! Give me my Navi!" and the dealer said it couldn't be done because it would have to be installed during the "production" of the car. I've also heard the a aftermarket one would be better anyways. To the batcave! =]
