Default my nismo was rear ended - update, got pics

nothing big.. just the rear bumper to trash. this nice lady was coming out from the parking lot.. and SBANG. I was in my car...
so, for me is the first insurance claim here in the states... how it works?
I have her D/L, her policy #... I called my insurance and they told me I have to call her...
can I bring the car to the shop and let them take care of that or do I have to do something?

Matteo

Hope you're okay.

I would get an estimate at a bodyshop of my choice then give that to the lady or her insurance company.

It appears that the Nismo bumpers are now more readily available so you shouldn't have to wait long for a replacement.

Is your stock exhaust damaged as well? The stock exhaust probably costs a decent amount, MSRP, so you could probably get a nice aftermarket piece for the same price.

Insurance companies like that **** me off. You pay them so THEY take care of such issues. You should not have to contact this person or her insurance. All they will do is argue with you.

As far as the shop is concerned. You can take it anywhere you want, but the estimate will come from the other person's insurance adjuster. If the amount seems too little for the repairs, then your shop works it out with that insurance company. They are used to that.

PS: who is this winning insurance company of yours? Please let us know so we never use them.

Same here... I was lucky and had a camera in my car when I was involved in an accident. I used the entire roll and I ended up having to use them in court. Not saying your going to end up in court, there were alot of cars involved in my accident.. The other advice I will give you, is stay on the insurance company. It took 4 months before my car even made it to a body shop because of all the crap they put me through... I should have sued for emotional damages

I have to get pics of mine right now.. but it's damn raining hard.
I'm ok.. I guess the impact was at 3mph for her and 0 for me.. I was actually still... I have seen her coming back but when I realized she hasn't seen me was late to slide away.
she hit the corner of the diffuser from one side and pushed badly in... just because I wasn't moving she didn't get any scratch.. maybe cracked paint.. but that's it.
and my bumper is to trash.

my insurance is state farm, what they told me is I can claim that with them, provide all data of other insurance and that after I paid my deductible they'll try to get back the money. I guess tomorrow they'll get another call that or they give me a nicer answer or I'm gone.

about damage.. ONLY the bumper.. lights are ok, indicators ok, exhaust ok.. if I had the stock bumper maybe was just a bump.. she got exactly the corner of the diffuser that is pretty stiff and it "reversed".. as soon as I can get pictures I'll post it.

Damn that sucks.... Luckly your ok.. The car will be fine... When I got into my accident, I was at a stop and the car behind me hit me at 15-20mph... And it was a mess... She hit me, the car behind her hit her and I hit the guy in front of me.... The two cars in the back were totalled.. Mine I think should have been but they fix it and it was never the same...

I got lucky since I knew the body shop pretty well I walked away with a full molded body kit, new paint job and new bumpers.... Hopefully you can find a shop like that.. And get some extras out of it

sorry for the double post.. but at least we have something in Italy that works damn fine in those cases and maybe you'd like to know.
we have to carry with our policy a paper called "friendly agreement" what you do on that paper is put all your data and the other person data, some common "mistake" like car A was rear ended, car B rear end car A and so on and a space for a drawing where you can draw the accident and put some comments.. it's a carbon copy form and at the end you have 4 copies signed by both drivers, two for you, two for the other.. you bring those to the shop and they take care.. of course you keep one.
once both signed and agreed on what happened.. that's it.

Oh man. That sucks! Edit* At least there isn't much damage. I'm sure your car will be good as new soon. Good luck!

That's pretty significant damage for a 3mph hit.

I would choose a very high-end bodyshop which would probably yield the highest estimate. The lady that hit you might want to settle things without insurance so as not to effect her premium. If you go through insurance, her insurance company should pay.

After you get a check from whoever, you could source the bumper through one of our sponsors here, either thenismoshop.com or mynismo.com to save some money which you could then put towards an exhaust or those coilovers you want. Good luck, hope it gets sorted out without too much hassle.

Sucks man - I'm sorry to hear that.

At least you are ok.

I hope that it doesn't take you 4 months to get the rear bumper like it took me for the spoiler.

Make sure the body shop knows when they order it to mention that it's a 2007/08 NISMO and not other parts (v1/2 or whatever) - I think that's what held mine up for so long.

I went to the dealer shop, it's a decent one.
they told me the part is availlable in the states, so shouldn't be a problem but now I'm waiting for the inspector from the insurance but look like is buying time... this morning wasn't availlable, she'll call me back in 24 hours, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have any news before monday.
btw, the rear nismo bumper is 1045... if it's only the bumper / clips and labour should be around 1500.
