just got the hypermax iii sport (thanks to thomas at sgp racing who survived my presence and gave me an incredible deal)
now she's dirty and sleepy, pics as soon as I'll wash her (maybe tomorrow)

the ride is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I'll talk about the track performance next week (will see next saturday how she will handle)

back from the track.
well, what to say? I cut my best time with the stock nismo of about 9 seconds. from 1.15 to 1.06. looking at the tires looks like I only need 3 degrees of camber in the front and I can shave a little more. the ride is outstanding, 17 turns with two short straight,

I'll skip the "results" because otherwise could be a flame against the porsche... but with this setup I had so much traction (the cusco LSD helps incredibly) and grip that was just incredible that you can pass a 997 4s every 6 laps and catch a gt3 (pretty much stock) with ease.. but that was the driver, decent, but not so good for the car.
well I'm happy ^ 32.

Looking forward to pics and details...thinking about doing the same thing. Also interested in any alignment mods you might have had to do...

 

what I'll need for a proper track alignment is he spl setup for the rear and for the front... because right now I can go back to -2 deg of camber in the rear with 0.1 deg of toe in, in the front -2.1 deg of camber and 0.05 of toe out.
toe is ok, but my target for the camber is at least -2.5 in the front and eventually -1.5 in the rear.

 

I'm planning to get the enkey gtc01 for the track (might be also for show.. offsets +18 in the front and +22 in the rear.. is going to be more than aggressive) for how I drive, spacers are really a bad thing.

which ohlins did you get and which specs (spring rate)

 

I don't particularly like the Enkei GTC01s... I have seen them on the MCR Nismo Z and they are pretty bad looking. the face is same front and rear, sort of blah. I used to like them a lot (and a guy is selling them for 1100 on here..) but after seeing them on a couple Z's I just don't like them.

second, the Nismo wheels might actually be lighter, and in my opinion look better. but the rear is a 19... so I understand

third, I think you give yourself too much credit. spacers can withstand a lot more abuse than you could give them (the 10mm spacers are all studded BTW)

stick with the stock rims and space them out a bit. trust me.

 

well
1) I like because they imho look good there and I need badly a set of tire for the track.. you'd use volk RE30 for the track? don't think so.. you'll use the stock nismo rims that the stealership sells for 700 a piece? don't think so...
that is my logic in that.

2) spacers especially aluminium ones are a problem with thermal expansion.. they survive, the problem is breaking the studs, like with all those nice "racing studs" for 200$ a set... steel still works better. I have seen enough people crashing on the track for a failure or another that I don't like to add variables to that equation. (I don't give a damn about the look)

 

I would use RE30s for the track... what other reason would you buy racing rims for?? lol....

you have a better chance of curbing the stock wheels in daily driving than you do at the track

and yes, I have heard all the horror theories about spacers breaking studs, but I drove on them for 40 or 50k miles est., abused and no ill effects.

 

well you know better than me that those rims are more for show that race (we aren't talking about a hub conversion with single bolt or whatever) 22lbs vs 19 on a 3300lbs car.. IF I had a really deep pocket, ok, I can live with that.. (and I'd would drive a 997 gt3 rs) but rims that cost 10% of the value of the car is just insane to be abused at the track.. I'd rather pay one extra set of tires for the money, or get better rotors than the stock one... I can do a lot of stuff on this car with 1300$.

about the horrific stories on spacers.. to me also only one having that problem is more than enough. why I should do that when I can get rims with lower offset? than you'll need to roll your fenders, than pull the fenders.. ok.. for what.. 10mm? how many seconds I'm going to gain on the road track for that?

 

How does it ride compared to the old setup now?

 

X2... you think that is enough of a spacer for the stock rims?

 

the ride is great, you have to live with the pillowball noise and really dampened shocks.. that means on steep elevation changes feels you're falling down but to me is great. my teeth are safe also on bad roads.
would be nice a GF with decent size ***** to see the effect!

 

if you align the rear properly (so less than 2 deg of camber with camber arms and toe bolts) imho no unless you roll the fender... I'll post side shots for that.
in the front, if you align for racing (so, about 3 deg of camber) yes.. maybe 10 to 15mm easy (now is about 2 deg)
