Default The Spare Tire Complex!!!

I have seen this on a few of the "weight saving threads"

But I was curious to see what you guys think.

If you have AAA is it worth pulling out that spare and tools to save the approx 40 lbs?

Anyone here done it?

What are your thoughts on this?

Will AAA tow you free of charge if you don't have the spare tire for them to put on... (would that void their service or something?) I would guess not but I figured I would mention it just incase

I did. Car's faster. It's a risk. DOesn't really matter what we think. If you get a flat, you get a flat.

Haha nice

I was just thinking too.... If I did get a flat I would probably rather a tow than to have to drive one of those puny spares. (or not I havent looked at the size of the spare yet...)

Would the Nismo have to be flat bedded due to the body kit?

funny you had that in your rear drivers side tire... i had the exact same thing. slow leak (could go 4-5 days if i filled it up without any problems) with a nail in that tire... got it fixed for $15. not a big deal...

Flat bed tow trucks will f**k your car up, especially if your nismo is lowered.

My last car was a Lotus Elise which I drove as a daily driver for 2 years. They have no spare and have no room for a spare if you wanted one (unless you use the passenger seat). Lotus' answer to a spare was a can of Fix-a-Flat in a special clip in the "trunk". Never had to use it. The one time I had a flat, it was in the parking lot at my work and I pulled the tire and took it to a shop at lunch. With the Z, I don't really see the spare as a real "need to have" but it's nice to know you can throw it in the back if you think you might need it.

How much does 40 pounds effect performance and mileage.

Noticeable or Negligible?

that would make sense.

full tank = approx 60 lbs (i think) and 40 lbs spare

so you figure

1/4 tank = (45) lbs
Spare tire = (40) lbs

---------------------
Weight saved= (85) lbs

its like throwing away a skinny person

or

a midget....

i took the spare out and the carpet.. and the mat love it because now i have more room in the back when i go grocery shopping!! Car does slide out alot more around turns, but i kinda like it that way- also be careful the first few times you touch 110 ish feels a bit different you kinda have to work to keep the car on the road... and you get alot more road noise.. not enough to want it back in though. I ran a 13.44 with spare in and a full tank (i know i'm an idiot but the track hadn't been a planned thing)... hoping to improve maybe to a 13.39 without it?
