And no one wants to touch my wheels. lol!!!

I went to NTB, sory we don't want to take a chance on fixing your tire and damaging your wheel. So I went by a friends Firestone he is a MGR at but he wasn't in, nope, our mechanics are too afraid to touch it. GRRR!!!!

My PSI light came on this morning again, and I checked the tire two days ago and it had 35psi, so it might be losing air faster now. This isn't good. Going to try Discount next.

 

Had same, found small nail, installed plug, drove home.

Have you had the car on a lift so you can inspect the tire?
The nail that got me actually snapped at the head, so all
that was left was the tiny spine up against a tread wall.
I was going crazy b.c my tire was losing about 10psi /day.

tire machines scratch wheels......best you can do is find a shop that has the nylon plastic guard that goes on the tire machine end and hope for the best.

just gotta take it for what it is and tell them "look try your best. i understand tire machines can cause some minor scratches" and go with it.

I drift and autoX my car and own 18 wheels and tires! i gave up on trying to avoid scratches at tire shops...it happens... so i stopped looking at my wheels/car under a microscope a long time ago..

It's at Discount Tire now, so they are aware and the guy said he will make sure they are careful. All I can do is hope now.

 

Great!!!! Ugg...tire fixed, but they freakin damaged my wheel! Around the lip 1/2 way around it they took the paint off. Unbelieveable. They are sending a wheel repair guy to my work maybe today to fix it, I told them if it doesn't match they will be replacing it.

Okay, one wheel, $1000~. my discount around $860~. Unbelievable..... We will see what the repair looks like, if it's good, then I will let it go, but if not, they are paying up.

 

Sorry to hear that -- any type of service on my car make me nervous.
I also have tire pressure issue yesterday. I notice that my tire pressure lights was on. I have a small portable electric tire pump and strange that all four tires was on the low side ~35 psi. Not sure if it was the intense heat during the summer.

I will be sure to get something in writing if I ever need any tire work. Good luck with your wheel repair/replace.

Goodyear scratched one of my TA's and they oredered me a new wheel with 0 fuss on my part. I was impresed by their customer service.

 

Discount tire will damage the wheel 9 times out of 10. I only know of one tire tech in Houston that works for Discount that will actually take his time to dismount and mount your tire. He layers the machine with towels to avoid scratching. Other than that, I don't take my wheels anywhere else. These places can avoid scratching the wheels if they'd just take a deep breath, slow down, make the proper preparations, and take their time......

 

Why did you not take it to the dealership? I would rather pay a little more on the front end than have to go through the agony and head-ache of having someone "fix it" from a second party company. Especially when these wheels are over $1000 a piece from the dealer.

 

Most dealerships can't work on the wheels themselves anyways. Reason why I took it to a tire place.

 

Sorry to hear that man. The only place I use is a shop here in town that specializes in custom wheels so they are used to dealing with bigger rims with lower profile tires. I wouldnt trust Discount Tire at all.

 

Sorry to hear about your rim. This is just one of my 1,000,000+ worries that I have about owning/repairing a Nismo.

 

Isn't the equipment basically universal, so it's more about actual user than the equipment.

I'd be weary like anyone else, but I've used america's tire/discount tire with low profile tires before and have luckily suffered no damage.

With the damage described, they should be able to repair it to look good as new.

Wheel has been repaired. Looks good as new. I will try to take some pics tonight of it. I want to put a coat of fresh wax on it so it polishes it up like my other wheels.
