Nismo Rear suspension noise
I have #20 Nismo and I am in need of some assistance from the other Nismo owners. 2 weeks ago I started hearing a rattle noise coming from the rear suspension. (Shock Towers?) I have now taken it into the dealership twice, they have heard the very obvious noise but ended up blowing me off because they could not find where the noise was coming from. They have given up instead of pushing forward to determine what is actually causing the problem. Their claim was that this is a high performance car and I will hear noises. Trust me this is not just a slight noise, it can be heard very clear without the engine noise at about 10 to 20 miles an hr and once you hear it, it can be noticed all the time. The noise occurs at sharp transistions in the road like a hole that has been repaired, cracks in the road or from one street to another that has a different pavement level
. This sharp transition causes the struts to go up and down in a quick manner and this is when the noise is hear. I bought a car that was almost 40K and now I am hearing a noise like something is very loose and possibly falling off of my rear end. Nissan says they can do nothing, this answer is just not acceptable. Please let me know if anyone else is having any rattling noise from their rear suspension.

That sux, How are the roads in your area?
I really have no qualifications to answer this question, but I figure I can throw out some idea's (Please correct me if im wrong)
My guesses are
1) constantly driving on crappy roads with the nismo suspension set up may have knocked something loose, or overburdened the suspension or something
2) Do those things need lubrication?
3) is the spare tire or any of the tools loose in the back, which when rattling around could be mistaken for the suspension?
Hope you find your answer, goodluck

Thanks for the input but unfortunately the spacers were taken out long ago. As far as the roads in my area, they are not bad, just normal conditions. I am in Atlanta if that gives you an idea. As far as I know I did not hit or run over anything to start this condition.

Def. hear it in my NISMO but it is not to the point where it is driving me crazy.
I have the music level at 4 or 6 and its doesnt seems to bother me as much.
As long as it does not cause a problem with the suspension or etc., thats fine with me...

My nismo makes a suspension noise too, when making low speed turns into driveways or similar conditions. The clutch rattles sometimes too. If it was a Benz I would be concerned, but its sports car and the ride is stiff as a board, so I wouldn't complain until something goes wrong.
I have 2008 NISMO #1186. Next week, both of my axles are being replaced under warranty. I have 8998 miles on the car.
I spent 3 hours at the dealership. At one point, 4 technicians were working on my car. The axles were re-lubed and retorqued, rear diff fluid was changed, the transmission fluid was changed, my car was test driven by two service managers.
None of them could come to a definative conclusion. Until the last of 5 times the car was lifted up on the car lift, they started to test the rear axles for play, which there was, more than "normal".
In all, I was blown off by my local dealership, however the dealership I took it to (1 mile from Nissan USA headquarters in Cool Springs TN) and it was purchased from took care of me.
Needless to say, I have dealt with the "sound" of the louder "click click click" and its progressive intesity for over 4 weeks now. I had ruled out everything i could possibly think of myself as in the brake rotors (warped), brake pads, rear suspenion links, sway bar links, peace of paper on the driveshaft or axles, diff mounts.
But again, I am happy my favorite Nissan dealership is taking care of me. They are a top notch dealership as they have already sold 7 GTR's and have two Nismo's still in their showroom (#13XX and #1400, both silver).
Anywho, thought I would share my crazy afternoon!
PM me, if your dealership keeps giving you crap, have them call Nissan of Cool Springs Tennessee.

Look in your owners manual there is a 800# that gets Nissan consumer affaries.Tell them what you have done so far to fix the problem and let them know that the results you have gotten is unexceptable and they need to fix your car. And go from there!!! good luck!!!!
Also in all the paper work you recieved,a letter from the Director of Specialty Vehicles of Nissan N. America Mr patrick Steiner, give him a call also helped me.I also sent this picture with my last letter expressing my dissatisfaction with there product! this pic was sent to CEO of Nissan VP of Nissan and Mr Steiner need less to say got a quick responds from Nissan saying they did not know that i had the Nismo, yaa BS!!!
Good Luck I've got 13K mi and no rear end noise yet, just a clutch that slips sometimes when it gets hot.
