Default Debating between Nismo and E55 AMG.... Need Nismo owner's opinions

Ready to purchase Nismo Z but I'm also considering E55.

I want some good opinions. Every car I've owned to date was a sports car. Supra, M3, regular 350z, etc so i'm not sure what I should do.

A big factor is I'm about to turn 24 and still in school so I don't know if the Nismo is the right car to have while as the E55 is sports and luxury and can be daily driven.

I test drove Nismo and E55 this week but I had soo much more fun in the Z.

What you guys think? any other choices I should consider?

Thanks in advance

The nismo is a awesome car, but if had the extra money i would be in an E55 AMG. The car is faster nicer and not to mention four door. This is just my opinion but like i said its kinda hard to compare these cars, totally different price ranges.

well both cars can be daily driven, its a matter on your taste.. i would rather get the E55 since its a combo of sports+luxury which the Z will never be luxury. also the E55 will seat 4/5 passengers. i did a quick search on the 2008 E55, Horsepower: 382 hp Torque: 391 ft-lbs. now those are some sick numbers. lol.. you'll appreciate this car more than the Z i think.. you'll be driving a panty dropper

I'd definitely go with the E55. Just drop it and give it some new shoes and you'll be Straight Ballin at 24

The E55 actually makes 469 hp. There is no 2008 E55, it got replaced by the E63 which makes a tad over 500 hp. I would take that over the nismo if it's mechanically sound; otherwise AMGs are extremely expensive to maintain.

They're two completely different types of car. I think as far as a true practical DD (design wise), you're right, the E55 would be more practical with 4 doors, 5 seats etc. Personally, I find the Benz classier as well. It's a hard choice, I'd say drive both. Perhaps you're ready for more of a luxury cruiser, since you mentioned all your previous cars have been sports cars.

On another note, I love those SLK AMG's as well, it's too bad they seem to be regarded as mostly a "chick's car".

I worked on Mercedes for quite a while, the E55 is an impressive car and will outrun the Nismo, not around a track, but in a straight line, most definitely. The upkeep is very expensive though, for example your oil changes will average around $130 or so, which isn't crazy but still. Also if you do decide on the E55 understand that if the car is out of factory warranty, it NEEDS an aftermarket warranty, too many times have I seen Mercedes or BMW's break big and the aftermarket warranty get payed for almost 2-3 times over on 1 repair.

Though...personal preference after all the time I spent with the Euros...I'd still go with the Z.

E55 AMG only for straight line power, NISMO for better handling and performance otherwise. Much lighter as well.

Had the RB stampede cruise 1 week ago, and a guy had one of these, he could not pull away from me at all hardly on the straights but I left him in the turns.

How much is the E55 you're considering?

Look into a BMW 550i. Not as fast as an E55, but a much more involving and fun to drive car. There are many past E55 owners who moved into a 545/550 and were enjoyed the car much more. The e55 is fast, but it will become a bore. The 5 series won't exactly drive like a sports car, but if it's your only car, it will be a very nice compromise. I could keep up with Porsches and Zs with ease in the canyons while driving a 545i.

here is the situation with urbancustoms, he can get the car at the auction and will get the e55 for cheap.. but like i told him (he and i are good friends) i think the e55 will be expensive to keep up and i think he should go with a nismo z.. ray call me later
