Default Is anyone else getting awful mpg out of their Nismo?

I barely can squeeze 300 miles out of a full tank (considering it's 20 gal., that's 15 mpg) and I routinely got 450 miles/tank on my 03 DE. Don't get me wrong, I expected worse MPG considering the revvier HR and the increased drag from the body parts but 15 mpg??

Also, I'm not an aggressive driver. I usually shift at 2500 rpm and I skip gears on the upshift.

i am an aggressive driver, and i was getting 17.4mpg... i got the cobb tuning program and loaded stage two into the car, now im at a good 19.7mpg, with the save habits... its expected to not have great mileage... from what i have seen, it gets better mileage shifting at 3,000 to 3,500, and not skipping gears...

It seems no matter what I do my average mpg is 16-17

I do a lot of city driving though. I find on the highway I usually get about 25 if a restart the mpg monitor

Well I have 1200ish miles on mine with about 600 of those highway miles and the rest in the city--19.8mpg average according to my trip computer. I also tend to shift at 3500 to 4500 rpm for the most part.

I have never in my life been able to obtain these 400+ figures everyone speaks of. Although 15mpg seems very low unless you are beating the **** out of it or letting it idle for hours on end.

I do very little idling although I am in a lot of stop and go traffic (because the highways around me are always backed up). Also, I use Shell V-Power 93 every time so I doubt it's the quality of the fire water I put into the tank.

^Its normal then. Theres nothing wrong with your car. Traffic is a *****. I bet you if you reset it on a highway trip with no traffic youll get much better mpg.

Could be worse, my dads M3 gets 10

How many gallons do you put in when you fill up?

I get ~18-19mpg for combined city/highway. I usually get about 340-350 miles per tank before filling up, but that's with running with the gas light on for awhile. As you know, the gas light is quite conservative as it comes on even with 4-5 gallons of gas left.

On another note, my gas gauge doesn't fill up all the way anymore....only goes up to 3/4 tank or so. Still get the same miles per tank, but it's quite annoying.

I also use 93 Shell V-Power and I hardly drive on the highway and I'm averaging about 18 ~ 19 mpg. I know for sure if I drove on the highway more I would get 19 ~ 21 mpg.

Try shifting a little later around 3500 ~ 4000 rpm.
I also heard skipping gears is no good.

Like Sensi09 said, the empty light comes on at 5 gallons.
I think I could hit 400 miles if I wanted too but I feel the car runs a lot smoother when it is full!

I hit 400+ miles out of tank when my car was brand new on the way home. All interstate of course and that was running down until the light came on.

I also vote for "shift a bit later." There's something involved about volumetric efficiency in high-performance engines; too few revs and things don't work optimally. My CBR929RR was the same way.

80% of my driving is in town between work and stuff and i get crap mileage. I just live in one of those places where i can get to 99% of places with backroads, no highways. And if i do use the highways it only for like 5 minutes tops. Im lucky if I get 15 -17 mpg. When i reset the ECU, the gauge pod computer will say i have like 305-320 miles till empty with a full tank. After a while, it will only say 265-280 DTE on a full tank. In reality though im lucky if i get 250 to 300 miles out of the tank. But like i said most of my usual driving is in town so, my numbers are skewed.

I fill it up to the top every time, 20 gal. Also, I can't believe that the stop and go traffic is the only reason, I drove my DE in that traffic and I still managed 400+ miles on a full tank.

IIRC, more gas is used in lower RPMs due to the power needed to keep the car going in such a high gear.

Less power needed to keep the car going = less gas used.

I agree that for optimal mileage, it's best to accelerate at a decent rate until at cruising speed. Now I don't mean redlining the car, but also not accelerating very slowly.
