Hello all:
I just joined the forum. I have 2008 NISMO #1573. I have been considering making a few changes to squeeze a little more power out of it. I don't think I am interested in forced induction. So my real question is whether or not I could benefit from a cold air induction system and an exhaust system. I would think the stock items on a NISMO would be pretty good so I'm not sure what to expect. If so, can any of you make recommendations. I live in MD, so if there are any good tuner shops around please let me know.

Welcome ksechler,

First off, Im on the opposite side of the country from you, so I wouldnt know what tuners to recommend to you. As far as performance intake/exhaust, this is going to be extremely opinionated. I have the dual nismo intakes (aftermarket, not stock) and a True Dual ARK Grip exhaust. If I were to do things over again I would go for either injen or stillen g3 intakes or stock intake with a drop in KN&N with a HKS Hi power true dual exhaust. Thats only if i wasnt going FI. The only thing that really disappoints me about the nismo is how there isnt alot of options for FI without breaking 12k to do it properly.

Welcome. Study our before and after dyno charts. Decide if the expense is worth the potential gains.

I mean you have a Nismo Z, it already has the intake and exhaust. Not only that but its probably one of the best intakes/exhaust you can get for your Z considering its made by nissan and tuned for your car already. When Nismo comes out with stuff they use super-computers to make sure everything is precise down to teh nuts and bolts. Other companies don't do as extensive research as the manufacturers because they dont want to spend too much time on one car, they would rather have 50 diff intakes for 50 diff cars than 1 finely tuned one for one car. If you really are considering chaning them look into Stillin because they specialize in Z's but in my opinion you will only be losing power and it wont be as finely tuned with anything else.

FYI, nismo Z's don't have nismo intakes or exhaust from the factory and the Nismo intakes are horrible, they actually lose power, and the stillens are actually quite good.

Oh contrare my friend!!! The Nismo does have a sweet factory muffler produced by HKS. But yes the Y and mid pipe are stock..

The Nismo CAI's for the HR also suck ***. I would invest in anything other then CAI's if you are looking for gains. Save them for last! Get yourself some Crawford HFC's and a good exhaust system. Then invest in an UPREV tune!!!

Wow I guess it doesnt come with the intake like I thuoght it did, sorry for being mis informed. But it does have the exhaust which is always a plus. I still say stick with something that speciallized in Z's either Nismo, Stillin, and JWT has also been working with Z's for a while now.

Sadly, this is also incorrect. It does not have the Nismo S-Tune exhaust that people put on their cars. The only thing different from the exhaust that comes on the Nismo edition and a stock 350z is the fancy muffler, which is just for looks and a little sound. No performance advantage.

No it doesn't, it has a muffler with "nismo" on the tips.
