After lining things up Friday determining if we can get it to fit all exhausts, it was determined that for it to function the best, it will probably not fit 2 of the available exhaust systems. Those two being the Stillen dual exhaust and Nismo S-Tune (the stock Nismo exhaust will fit). The reason is that those two have the muffler can hanging way too low in the middle between the tips. The only way to make it fit those would be to increase the exit angle and make the channel thinner. Both of those things together would affect it's function, therefore we decided against it.

Lets face it, those two exhaust systems have the lowest performance gains anyway.

Every other exhaust I have seen for our cars should be fine according to the images I have seen here

A single should fit with this design but you would be able to tell that it was designed for dual exhaust systems.

If you can't fit the Nismo and Stillen, that also rules out some of the other dual-exit exhausts:
-Fujitsubo (all versions)
-APS (2.5" and 3.5" with muffler)
-Invidia Q200?
-Tanabe?

Some of the others were questionable. It wasn't because of just the can being there. It was based on the angle the muffler can was sitting and how far, if at all, the can was below the exhaust tips. As you can see from the link, the nismo S-Tune's muffler sits at an angle that makes it extend a couple inches lower than the exhaust pipes and tips.

We will have measurements to give so that everyone can make sure it fits before ordering it.

"Hypothetically" if someone had the cash for the AMUSE Ti exhaust and MCR Power exhaust, would those fit like the stock Nismo exhaust?

What about for dual exhaust like HKS Ti dual? being that there are 2 seperate mufflers, would that and similar exhaust systems work?

I think he's going to have yo make it and then measure to see what could fit, its hard to eyeball it from pictures im sure.

I have zero intentions at this time of getting rid of the OEM muffler, so as long as it fits that ill be interested.

The OEM Muffler tucks nicely up in there and shouldn't be an issue.

As fhumphrey stated, it is hard to determine by pictures and thats why we will make it with as much room as we can with-out sacrificing functionality.

Also, as I stated, we will give everyone the measurments needed to confirm fitment.

I'm also trying to build full diffuser aluminum would love some feed back

.......

Great diffuser by the way I remember telling shine auto to build similar diffuser for 350z based on rx7 diffuser that they have but they though no need for such product with top secret diffuser in the market that was 3 or 4 years ago !!

Great to see shop pay attention to our platform keep it up

Making it from aluminum is going to be expensive. Also, you will beat it up a lot. My GTSpec mid point chassis brace has seen better days because it takes the most abuse.

We will be making it out of fiberglass to get the final design and then make a mold so we can replicate it in carbon fiber. This piece will work for all versions of the 350z.

Obviously this will come after the nisimo diffuser is completed.

Aluminum costs more than CF?

More than fiberglass and depending on the complexity of the part, yes an aluminum fabricated one could cost more to make. With carbon fiber, it's the same mold, just different material. Carbon fiber material is only about 3 times the cost of fiberglass (which is cheap), and the labor is the same.

I have seen the labor time involved in making an aluminum diffuser. I was at S&R nearly the whole time they were working on it. I also know the "cost" of a good fabricator and the cost of material. It would be very easy to exceed the cost on carbon fiber.

This is good stuff you've got here. I especially like the accuracy of your scanning and modeling cost being that I am involved in that industry. I know its a little late to mention, but you'd be surprised how good of a model and FEA reference you can get from scanning an accurate scale model of the Nismo-Z. Since you are just looking for 90% effectiveness you'll probably get a 90-95% accurate representation on the CAD side of things.

I've got a pretty wild design idea for my G35, but since I plan on selling it will never see the light, but it had a lot of these design elements in it that I would apply to the OEM bumper (mostly a narrowed rear bumper that exposed the tire more):

Who knows, maybe I'll work with a friend of mine to get a high detailed rendoring of it. He's great at 3D design and he really knows how to visualise my thoughts.

Anyhow keep up the good work! One suggestion, if it works you may want to pitch it to Nissan Motorsports for the Spec-Z series.

Its not going to. Last week was a horrible week for the project. The first part of the week it was too cold and the end of the week was too wet.

This week we should are expected to have "decent" weather so we will see what progress we have.

Remember, this is happening for my car, the attempt is to make it as universal as possible with-out sacrificing function so that other Nismo owners can get a diffuser as well.
