Default Custom Rear Bottom Diffuser for NISMO bumper

I am having a custom rear bottom diffuser made for my Nismo since there are none availalbe for us.

The initial one will be made of fiberglass and then re-made with carbon fiber. This should make a very nice impprovement to the rear downforce and function nicely with the Nismo rear bumper.

Since it is being custom made for my car and I will have the mold for it, I wondered what appeal this would have to other Nismo owners.

Initially this will be just the rear but we may also design a complete bottom diffuser setup.

Any interest in this product from you NISMO owners?

No drawing yet. We are actually taking measurements right now.

Car is running great. We will be unlocking the cam phasers this week and retuning! Should make a huge difference in torq and spool.

I can take a video.

We are hoping to have the diffuser done is the coming week. I will post progress pic's if I can.

I figure pretty much every Nismo owner will want this.

I am not sure what I will sell it for yet. I have to find out how much it will cost me to replicate it. It will also depend if the customer wants it in carbon fiber, kevlar or just fiberglass.

Is there going to be actual R&D to see how the aerodynamics are affected or are you just making a "cover" for the bottom of the Nismo bumper?

Without a 3D scan of the entire car, you would have to make many, many, many different designs with many, many, many wind tunnel experiments to determine the best design. This is not an option for us or pretty much any other rear diffuser manufacturer for the GT car market. For big teams that spend 2 million everytime they come out for a race, well they develop their own, in house, only for themselves.

The benefits between a "perfect" design and a design we come up with will be small and lets be honest, probably completely un-noticable on our cars. On a formula car or the like, the little difference could turn in to a big difference being that they create something retarded likst 6,000lbs of downforce.

However, we have one thing that most other manufactures don't and that is one of the top engineers in the state of Florida at our disposal. When I say "at our disposal", I mean that. He is my business partner in another company I own.

Him and I have big plans this year that I can't discuss at the moment but it has everything to do with the performance market.

In short, it will be more than a "cover". Have I ever done anything "half a$$"? With the tools we have at our disposal, this thing will turn out great!

Also, we have been taking quotes on 3D scanners and will probably have one sometime this year. We just aren't rushing to buy one because they run $60K + and really good ones are more than 100K.

If you think any of these other companys that make them for the 350Z, S2000, EVO, etc spent a half million on R&D of a rear diffuser they sell for $1,000.00 and only capture a tiny, tiny percentage of that particular cars market, your crazy.

Why so defensive? It was just a question.

So, in short, you're just making an educated guess at best. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not getting defensive but I do see how it could come across like that. lol

I just felt the need to explain it to everyone. It will be very functional. The questionable aspect of it will be "while it is creating good downforce, how much drag comes with it".

It will be a good design. I am confident in it because we will be running a CFD analysis of it. We can tune it to flow perfect but with-out a 3D scan of the car, we can't tell how the air is actually flowing under the car prior to coming in to contact with the diffuser. If the entire bottom of the car was flat, it would be a lot easier but that's not the case on our car.
